Placed an order last night. MONDAY. Free 2-day shipping told me it would arrive FRIDAY.
I'm no mathematician, but that definitely seems like 4 days as opposed to 2.
Even if I'd ponied up $10 for 1-day shipping, it still wouldn't have arrived until Thursday.
What gives? I'm reconsidering renewing when it comes up bc it seems like this type of thing is happening more and more often.

they tell people that it's 2 days from the time it's shipped. I'm betting they're fudging on that ship date. Look for "by xxx, 2016 GUARANTEED"

This seems to be the norm for us probably half the time. Yesterday DH ordered something for me and told me, "I ordered your thing- it'll be here in 2 days amazon prime....so Thursday." At least I've learned my lesson and I'm in the habit now of double checking the guaranteed dates before placing my order.

I've started screen-shotting my order pages because it will say one thing when I check out and another when I get the Order email from Amazon! So frustrated with them lately.

If it's not warehoused nearby, they don't rush to ship anymore...the only things that say 2 days are things that are close, fortunately Vegas has a major distribution center for them so it doesn't happen all that often to me but it has. This is my first year as a prime member and it's really disheartening to see. They don't even count Saturday a lot of the times anymore without an extra fee. It used to be an amazing service and when I finally see the investment as worth it, they are changing everything so it no longer benefits the consumer. There is still enough that makes it worth it...my renewal comes up in January sometime, so I'll probably pay for one more year, but if it continues to decline the way that it has recently (the bulk of the changes seem to have happened in the past year to year and a half) I won't renew after that. I find that I use it mostly during Christmas anyway, but with the changes, there is no guarantee I can do that anymore because 2 days might not really be 2 days.
They've also changed their hassle free returns...you have to pay return shipping or lose part of your refund (which does the same thing) on many things unless you claim there is something wrong with the item that you're returning.

I've started sending an email to Amazon every single time the 2 day shipping turns into 3 or 4 days. I'll order 3 things, all on Prime, and get them one 3 different days. Emails sent each time. So far I've racked up 6 free months of Prime.

I've noticed too. I've cancelled things that were supposed to be here Saturday (why I ordered) then on Sunday see that they are to arrive today--so I cancelled them!

sad to say the days of "two day shipping the day you place the order" are gone. now it's two days after the day you place your order and sometimes 3. I just placed an order today for 10 items and they are coming in three shipments starting this Friday (how is that 2 days?) , end of next week, then first week of Nov. <<sigh>>

What really sucks about this is that many other companies are offering free shipping (not always 2 days, but not much longer, either) without a membership. Cutting your benefits when others are offering FREE benefits that you've long done away with is no way to garner satisfied and repeat customers.

I ordered something last Friday that said when I checked out that it would be delivered Sunday. It's still not here. Grrrr.

So far I've racked up 6 free months of Prime. I've done that a couple times, too. But now I am starting to wonder what is good about months worth of a not-working-service. I do like not having to meet limits for free shipping. There's that. ETA actually I usually "chat" not email. Just my preference. Instant feedback.

I have found that most things will say that two day shipping isn't available before you place the order. I ordered a big ol' paper trimmer late Wednesday night and got it Friday afternoon. I needed it by Saturday morning, so I was really pleased. Most things I order off of Prime I don't need in two days. I think I am just a planner.

Look for "by xxx, 2016 GUARANTEED" Any time I complained about the long ship times, that is exactly the answer I got. It's 2 days from when it ships...so basically they can 2 days ship it 3 weeks from when you order it and consider it 2 days shipping They gave me a free month here or there for my complaints, but finally when it came up for renewal in August I gave it up. I was kind of panicked at first, but honestly I've placed only 2-3 orders since. I always group to get free shipping. And the non-prime people or those who cancel prime and they want to torture wait forever and a day for shipping. Seriously my orders haven't shipped until about a week to a week and half from order time. I mostly shopped Amazon for convenience...now that it's not convenient, I find I just don't have much of a reason to shop them.

Another issue I have been having with them lately is Sunday delivery. We observe the Sabbath. Last week a $5 set of straws I bought for my water bottle was delivered on Sunday. I am trying to figure out how to get around this as I feel guilty for having the USPS work on Sunday. Jen

Yep...they played that wait 2 weeks to ship game with me last year after I bought a 1k camera. After a week, I got pissed at it not even having shipped yet and I asked them why the hell would I pay an extra $35 to ship a thousand dollar plus purchase. They upped it to overnight and I got it 2 days later (it was after hours when I called).

I do think you should get it by Thursday though

It is 2 day shipping, not 2 day order fulfillment. jumperhop when you order, it should list the expected delivery date. You could choose the next slower delivery, but I agree you shouldn't have to. I thought the Sunday delivery was just for the Christmas season last year, but they have continued it. There is rarely something that I must have on Sunday

I ask if this is normal for them... I know they keep track of everyone who complains, but so far they haven't been anything but polite! SaveSave

I thought the Sunday delivery was just for the Christmas season last year, but they have continued it. There is rarely something that I must have on Sunday i know this is the BS they give when you call but this is NOT what they sat on their site. On their site they say that is only true of out of stock items or items not available for immediate shipping. In both of those cases that is noted on the sale page. From their prime web page: If the item you're ordering is out of stock or unavailable to ship immediately, the shipping method time starts when the item ships. For example, it will take two business days after an item ships to reach you with Two-Day Shipping.

I've had this happen a lot lately. When I email or do live chat to complain sometimes they offer me a $5 credit but never the free months the peas seem to get.
A couple of weeks ago the fault was with the delivery company (on Trac) and since I've had previous problems with them I asked the customer service rep to make a note in my account to not use that courier anymore. She said no problem but of course my very next prime delivery came with them.
I'm unsure if I will renew again. I've had prime for almost five years and have really gotten accustomed to it but they just aren't doing a good job anymore. If I don't renew I bet I'd save a ton of money too.

I ordered again this week, assured it would be here Saturday 22nd, as we needed it for very early Monday morning, and it didn't arrive yesterday. I emailed Amazon demanded a credit immediately and told them they could find out where it was in the shipping process, that I don't have it when I needed it and when it was promised.
I further told them what's the point if Prime, 2 day is now 4-5-6 day. I asked them to tell me why Prime was even worth it anymore!
I got my credit within the hour.
