Hello crafty ladies (and gents if there are any),
With my brand new little photo printer and a certain amount of excitement regarding the upcoming winter (which will evidently fade as soon as we hit January and I realise how much longer this cold season will last ), I'm going full-on hygge Danish-style and am contemplating doing a sort ofbut not really December Daily for the first time ever.
I'm brainstorming using the month of December to scrap on-the-go on an every-few-days basis while still sticking to my usual minimalist style. Mixing the idea of very regular daily memory-keeping of DD with Shimelle's JYC to add older stories/reflections, I'd like a separate December (to early January, due to our slightly different Christmas season over here) album just for once. Something with a little bit of everything in it.
Here's the list of what I've thought of adding to the usual DD stuff so far:
- 1 DITL (just one to two 6x8 spread/s) for a typically busy December day, something more driven towards the exterior and public life that shows several views from the city with the Christmas lights and the amount of people in the stores
- 1 DITL (again, just the one to two 6x8 spreads) of a cozy day in on a weekend to document the other side of cold days, an intimate portrait of a let's-stay-in December day
- story time: a Christmas story I loved as a child on one page vs a Christmas story/anecdote/tradition I love nowadays on the other page
- a spread about the Christmas costs in 2016: pictures of a typical Christmas dessert at the baker's with the price tag display label/whatever it is called in English, of a receipt of my Christmas shopping, of a a window display in the city centre with some journaling about what my ideal 2016 December outfit amounts to, of a Christmas-themed mug at the Disney store, screenshot of online purchase order. I've come across some childhood pictures with the price tag for a few things and it was such a nostalgic moment. Everything: the price labeling, the store displays, the lighting, it was really like being transported back into the past.
- pieces of the wrapping paper and ribbons I'll be using, pieces of the wrapping paper and gift décor I'll be receiving with a couple of extra pics of wrapping the presents and then opening them
- one to two spreads of Christmas photo booth accessories pictures with all my favourite people (I'll be packing up these accessories and take them with me to work, friends, our families)
- "All is calm, all is bright": a spread featuring two 6x8 comparison shots: on the left side, the gifts under the tree and everything perfectly in place on Christmas Eve; on the right, the chaotic state of the living room just after everyone's done opening their gifts and going mad. I'll be marking my tripod placement for this if I don't forget to do so.
- a spread about my outfit faves of this winter: the new cashmere wrap I just got, the mittens my mother is currently knitting to match the wrap, my new perfume, my manicure using the new berry shade nail polish and a what's-in-my-bag pic featuring the Frozen Kleenex tissues and herb drops
- Christmas cards aren't part of our cultural traditions but most of us do send each other texts for big occasions like Christmas so I'll be taking screenshots and filling up a spread with them too
If anyone has done a semi-DD album in a more freestyle manner with special December spreads/different ideas, please share! Stepping outside the usual boundaries always gets my creative juices flowing.
