We are having roast chicken, with potatoes, pumpkin, peas and gravy. DH is cooking, as he normally does on weekends. For those who missed my late post on last night's thread - my SiL is much improved today, after surgery to drain a cyst yesterday. She will still be in hospital for quite a while; a week or so in Melbourne where she had the surgery, then back to her regional hospital for however long they fell is necessary. scrapmaven - I hope you're feeling well today.

Lazy football watching day here. BF will be grilling some chicken and I will be making Pioneer woman's hot crash potatoes (or whatever they are called). He's about to run to the farmer's market and get the potatoes and some local eggs. I hope he finds a green veggie of some sort, too.

Happy to hear your SIL us on the mend, sueg. Feel better, hanushka. Stomach bugs aren't fun! Glad your migraines are gone, @calimom2. Today's dinner was spring rolls, bought from a local lady. Incredibly yummy, so we will definitely buy them again. It's raining (again), and I hurt everywhere, so I didn't bother with dessert today. If someone wants dessert, they can make it or buy it.

LSU's game starts at 6 PM so I'm thinking something easy like clam chowder. Maybe I'll buy some bread bowls to serve it in. Just DH and me ~ DS is off to play D&D with friends.

My plans are up in the air for today. I was going to visit with a friend but that got cancelled. So now I am hoping to get into the garage and do some purging. If that works out I may be too tired to cook and my house may be a wreak until I drop off donations. I'm thinking it might be another Breakfast for Dinner night? Who knows. We'll let tonight's dinner be a surprise.
Surprise! We had Kielbasa, Chicken and Cabbage. My oldest had Chicken Fried Rice. One of those frozen meals you just heat and serve. Go Mom! It's either that or a PBJ sandwich when you won't eat what I cook. And again, no one starved, so I am winning at this Mom cooking every night gig!

Saturdays are my family's favorite meals....take-out. I should probably be offended or hurt or something by that fact, but I'm too happy not to have to plan and cook a meal once a week that I don't care. Since I knew I wasn't going to have to cook, I'm spending my day making snack mixes. Family and friends get snack mix and I get to keep warm by the oven. Everyone wins! sueg, I'm glad your SIL is improving!

We are finally going out to dinner for my birthday, which was in September. We were going to go to our awesome local Italian restaurant, but there was not a reservation to be had, so we are headed to Maggianos instead.

Okay, so I lied last night... we didn't have soup/salad, we had ham steak, smothered potatoes, corn and salad instead! lol
Tonight it's going to be sauteed chicken, roast potatoes, succotash, and a small salad. For me, another bit of cheesecake for dessert.

It's a chilly and rainy day today. I wanted to make soup but didn't want to go out so we had chili and cornbread for dinner.

DH and I are heading to a local Italian place. We usually share their traditional (mozza, tomato, basil) pizza and some woodfired ravioli. Looking forward to it!

Such a beautiful cool and lazy day here. I have Beef Stoganoff in the IP for DH. I'll probably make myself a calorie friendly "pizza" on an English muffin. I need to get in a walk after dinner and then it's more football. You just can't beat Fall!

Well, my brother wants us to go to his place for dinner (about half an hour away in Berkeley). Neither my sister nor I feel like going (BIL is out of town somewhere, I don't even know where), but if she guilts me into it, I will go. sigh Otherwise, we will both eat the Italian beef I cooked yesterday but no one, including me, ate, and watch our shows on my DVR. Now which choice sounds better?? Yeah, that's what I thought. ETA hope scrapmaven is feeling better today. UPDATE she is dragging me into Berkeley. bahhhh She is a freakin' saint.

We went out for dinner to a Thai restaurant with friends for someone's birthday. 6 adults and 5 kids. 7 of us had the banquet: Entrees: Curry puff Satay chicken sticks Prawn Phucket Spring roll Mains: Massaman beef Chicken pad Thai Snow pea king prawn BBQ chicken Thai style Steamed rice As there were 7 of us eating the banquet, we each got one of the entree items, and for the mains they brought out 2 bowls of everything except the prawn dish. And there were only 5 prawns on the bowl, so 2 of us missed out. We asked one of the waitresses whether there was another bowl of the prawns to come out because there were only 5 prawns, and she said "Yes, yes, another dish" and scurried off. (They don't speak much English.) The second bowl of the prawn dish never arrived but the next 2 bowls of Thai chicken did. Then we asked the main guy who'd been serving us (I think he might be the owner) about the prawn dish, explaining that there were only 5 prawns in a dish for 7 people. After much to-ing and fro-ing trying to get him to understand us, he said that they can't give us all a prawn! Our faces: then then . It became a bit of a joke between us. When the guy came out to ask if we wanted any more steamed rice, one of the guys said "Yes please, and chuck a couple of prawns in it too!" The waiter just laughed. Then when he asked if we wanted dessert, one of the girls said "Does it come with prawns?" It was so weird. Other than that, the food was really good.

I got some free-range chicken drumsticks on sale yesterday, so I just made this recipe to go with roasted Brussels sprouts, baby carrots, and pearl onions in a balsamic glaze. The chicken is done ahead of the vegetables, which I wanted crispier, and the smell of that spice mix is driving me insane! ETA: Huh, that link goes to the right page, but doesn't show the recipe. everclevermom.com/2014/05/easy-weeknight-paleo-chicken-best-drumstick-recipe-ever/ETA2: That chicken was goooooooooooooood.

Pork tenderloin with portobello mushroom sauce, couscous, and vegetables. I used Trader Joe's portobello mushroom soup. Very tasty and all known ingredients. :-)

I hope scrapmaven is okay! (( hugs )) if you see this! sueg ---GREAT news! AussieMeg ----your restaurant story cracked me up! We've had chicken tortilla soup 2 nights in a row, and as I said before, DH could happily eat it 4-5 nights in a row ; but I'm ready for something different. I still have some chicken, so I offered to make more soup if he'd like. Ohhh, that reminds me, I forgot to get more cilantro at the store last night...arrgh!
