What is it? I know about the 5% discount, but how does it tie into to your bank account? It's just another debit card from your bank account that has target on it so you get your 5% discounts? ( I think I answered my own question while typing out this question )

There are two red cards, I believe, unless things have changed. There's the debit card, which you described perfectly except it's not from your bank. There's also a credit card, which works the same way, but it's credit so it doesn't attach to your bank account.

.......and don't forget free shipping with no minimum dollar amount. So you start with EBates an get about 2% off, then use the red card and get another 5% off and add free shipping. I love that little card. I order things like 20lb bags of pet food and it appears on my porch without me struggling with it.

I have the debit card. It is attached to my bank account, but not from my bank and works like a debit card except the funds do take several days to come out instead of immediately.

All the above is true.....but the best thing is on Black Friday when you go in the store and get all happy that you've snagged what you want. You then rush to the checkout line and bam the line is wrapped all the way around the inside of the store... You pull out your red card and get into the short red card checkout line. I don't think in all of the years I've had my red card I've stood in the checkout line on Black Friday in Target for more than 20 25 minutes.

I have no idea what the short card is. My red card acts as a debit from my checking account but does take several days to show up. I cant say enough about ordering online from Target. It's free shipping for orders at least $25. It takes the 5% red card discount out automatically. Most everything arrives the next day on my porch. And you get the same price as what the store is charging that day. I currently have toilet paper, Tide and fish oil coming today. Wish they woukd deliver fresh groceries and I might never leave the house! I regularly order coffee, kcups, mixed nuts, rice and toiletries from them now.

Last week I ordered two bottles of Mrs. Meyers Apple Cider scent cleaner that was out of stock at my store. I wouldn't do a credit card but I really like the set-up of the red debit card. I am another one that hasn't seen a short Red Card line either!

We have the credit card and just have it set up so that the balance is paid off in full every month with auto pay. I also like to do the ship to store option. That way I can buy online and still get it the same day by picking it up at the store 10 minutes from my house.

Kind of OT, but hubs once has a Target credit card. He never paid interest on it (even when he carried a balance from month to month) and thought that's the way it was supposed to be. I insisted that he was wrong and that somehow he fell through the cracks and something was going on with his account. His card was getting old and he decided that he wanted a replacement so he called and asked for one...received replacement and wouldn't you know it, wife was right...interest started to show up when he didn't pay his balance in full. Shoulda just kept his mouth shut and listened...

I've been curious about the Target Red Cards - but - were they part of the cards that got hacked a few years ago?
DH is saying no to getting any type of Red Card because he thinks it's a bad idea to deal with a company that experienced such a huge breach of security.

Not sure what free shipping is being discussed. Target.com clearly has free shipping for orders of $25 or more which is real easy to hit. I love that i get an email telling me they just put it on the porch. My toilet paper just showed up in my doorstep...it doesnt get any easier.

When you use the red card to pay there is no minimum to get free standard shipping. My online purchase last week was $6 with free shipping because I used my red card to pay. If I had used another card I would have had to pay for shipping.

If you google "company security breach" you will see that they are VERY common and widespread. Chances are you are already doing business with a business that has had one. Not sure why people are continuing to hold this against Target. www.informationisbeautiful.net/visualizations/worlds-biggest-data-breaches-hacks/This website has an interesting diagram of various data breaches over the last few years.

I have a Red Card, but it's a credit card, not a debit. The only debit I have is from Chase. I LOVE my Red Card. Why wouldn't I want the discount? I'm at Target every 15 minutes. I also use the Cartwheel app and coupons.

I have the debit red card. I opened a free checking account with no minimum balance and attached the red card to that one. I keep only a couple hundred dollars in there since it is strictly for the red card and that way it isn't tied to my main checking account.

I have been to Target on many a Black Friday and we have never had this mythical Red Card line. I totally am going to mention the Red Card line to my favorite associates at my local target to see what they have ever heard about it.

Love the red card for the discount and occasionally free shipping. I'm not a fan of online target as they have cancelled several orders a week or two after I ordered though so don't trust them for important things like Christmas presents. I don't usually shop on Black Friday but have never heard about a short line for those with a red card. That would be a nice perk but since so many people have them here not sure it would really help much.

I worked at Target for eight months and through Christmas, no Red Card short lines at my Target... and in past years never seen or heard of them unless I was just clueless, but for sure our store did not have any special line.
I remember I got lucky and worked the express lane on Thanksgiving night... NO ONE in express lanes!!! LOL...
