I'll admit, I'm a Thicker virgin.
I see them in Michael's, but I just can't spend $4.99 on one pack of letters. And they don't even have a ton of letters in there. And sometimes some of the letters have fallen to the bottom of the package (bad adhesive?).
But they are so pretty. And dimensional without being bulky.
Are Thickers worth the price?
Are there alternatives I just haven't seen yet?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 10/31
Took a 50% off coupon to AC Moore and bought a pack of Thickers. They came to $2.69 with tax. I'll use these and see if they are a must buy item from now on or just a once in a while thing.

I have quite a "few" thickers. If the 4.99 sticker price doesn't sit well with you, get a Michaels coupon and only pay $3 or wait til the 50% off coupon comes in and pay 2.50! Can't get much cheaper then that! And yes for simplicity reasons I like my thickers!

I'm the wrong person to respond probably. I have over 200 sets. I love them and use them in every layout. I mostly buy them online where there is a larger selection and discount. I've bought a lot on Peachy Cheap when they do bundles of 5 or 10 for half price.

I love all kinds of letter stickers, and use them for titles on most of my pages. Thinkers add a nice bit of depth to a LO but if I use them I often add a drop of liquid glue to the back, bc their glue doesn't work very well

My Tuesday Morning usually has Thickers for $1.99 I think- be sure to check there, if you have a TM near you.

I love Thickers and try not to ever pay full price. You must add adhesive, except to the foam ones, in my experience.
I have occasionally die cut 2 or 3 sets of my title letters and layered them together. That gives a nice thick look, too.

Because people will buy them at the full retail price. I do like the look -- but I only buy if they are on sale!

I have about 25 packages of Thickers. That should last me a while. I love Thickers and I think they are about $6 package here
Are they worth it? Yes!

Yes, they are over priced. I like them and only buy them on sale. I would buy them more often if I didn't have to wait for a sale.

Back when my TJ Maxx carried more scrapbook supplies i bought a ton there. TJM prices them at $1.49. I love thickers. For any but foam you need to use a little glue or they will fall off.

I have quite a variety of thickers but would never pay retail. I've gotten them in kits, discount places and LSS yard sales. I pick them up for $1 or less there or in random bags of supplies.
I add a tiny amount of glue if necessary, but always sew them down. I love what thickers can give to a page, but I love alphas in general.

I've also seen them at Marshall's and Ross for cheap. I was never a fan of buying letter stickers. I always make my own using my Cricut or Silhouette (or QK, back in the day) and gluing multiple layers together. Add a glossy accents for shine, or glitter for sparkle.

Love Thickers but totally agree about not paying full price. My TM frequently has them. I love the variety of fonts and finishes that I wouldn't easily be able to recreate at home.

Big Lots started carrying scraping supplies again? When did this happen?

I'd say thery're expensive because, like the ridiculously over-priced studio calico kits, people will pay it. I'd rather pay $5 for thickers than for enamel dots! having said that, I have to confess I have about a zillion packages of both lol

Hobby Lobby has them at 50% off every so often (or 40%??). The selection is limited, but it's a little different than Michaels.

I buy them only when they are on sale at Michaels, Hobby lobby and Joanns, clearance at scrapbook websites, Tuesday Morning, and Marshalls. I only pay full price if I really Love them and know I'm gonna have a hard time finding them later. Sadly, lots of my go to cheap thicker places have been carrying less and less. I guess I should use up some of my 200+ in my stash!

Big Lots started carrying scraping supplies again? When did this happen? Wow I didn't know they stopped. I used to get a lot of Thickers there.
Sorry for the bum info.

I only get them when they come in kits etc. Here they're often up to NZ$12.99 and most places don't have the same good discounts as in the USA. Now I have my Cameo I mostly make my own

I like any alpha sticker for the ease of use because time is short. I will sometimes cut out my own print ones and stack a few high. Usually when I cut it's either a print and cut title or a cursive title. I like to buy on sale or with a coupon. Definitely use a bit of glue on them.

I like them and they are convenient and cute but they're not a must for me. I can always use my Silhouette to cut exactly what I want.

For me, the draw of Thickers is the various materials. I love the cork, the leather, the glitter, etc. Considering that I can get several layouts out of each set (at least 5...sometimes 8), the $5 price tag is reasonable to me.

They are expensive, but I never pay full price. I usually get mine at Hobby Lobby, either when they are 1/2 off, or with my 40% off coupon, or at scrapbook conventions.

LavenderLayout- I love Thicker's but the prices scare me off too. I think they are so pretty. I have one package. I make my own Thickers. I do get the envy girl syndrome when I am looking at craft rooms and see those pretty baskets full of Thickers. It is like looking at a pretty bouquet of flowers. Even though I do make my own if I found Thicker's for a $1.00 a pack. I would stock up and buy all the designs.

if I found Thicker's for a $1.00 a pack. I would stock up and buy all the designs. Me too! See, that's the thing. I think they are super cute. But not $4.99/pk cute. Of course at $1/pk, I'd have to buy them all. I might just have to go slow and buy a pack at a time with a 50% off coupon, and see where that leads me. But even $2.50 seems a bit high.
