flute4peace I used really big needles. ( circular). I think they are 15 or 16. It took 30 skeins. I bought 6 bags (5 to a bag) when craftwarehouse was having a tent sale. It was $2 a bag. I casted on 100, and just knitted until the yarn was gone. To cool. I've got a couple of giant crochet hooks that I bought one time when I was feeling sorry for myself - ha - and haven't found any use for them. Maybe I can get ahold of some scarf yarn and give it a try.

I have a few skeins of Bernat (I think that's the brand) Twist and the holes are so small I didn't enjoy knitting with it at all. Great blanket!

I'd seen that - love the colours in it. I won't join the CAL as I've got a baby blanket to get done and I know that will be keeping me busy in the new year, but it's definitely gone onto my list of future projects!
Give it time, it will come back if and when you're ready

I think it's because I'm forcing myself to finish this baby blanket that I'm just not enamored with. Maybe it'll come back once I get that done. Hopefully before the kid turns 1.

Not a gift, but I am working on my first fair isle pattern. It's a simple hat using a worsted weight baby alpaca/acrylic blend yarn that is machine washable and very soft. There are 5 more full rounds to finish in the white, then I can do the decreases for the top. It should be ready to wear tomorrow. Attachments:

I'm working on two baby blankets with Baby Bee chunky yarn from Hobby Lobby.I'm just doing a simple corner to corner stitch. Both babies are due Feb- March with baby showers at 6 weeks before that. So no crochet Christmas items for me. I have to finish those blankets. Oh and we are moving into a new house Dec 1 so that will eat my crochet time.

I'm still happily crocheting away and loving it...not making any Christmas presents though.
Finished the Carousel and tried to take a picture but was hampered by a little fat photo bomber: Finally got her off for a better shot, but you can still see her tail at the top:
Also still working on my friend's Lily Pond, this is part 5 of 8:
and I also just got some of the new Scheepjes yarn "Spirit" (cotton & acrylic mix) love the colors but no idea what I'm going to do with it yet.

pjaye, your work is simply gorgeous. What are your plans for your Carousel? I think it would look great mounted and on the wall. Your little fat photo bomber is clearly very at home with you. Are your cats getting on well?

Wow Pjaye, your carousel is amazing! You have a real talent for crochet and knowing how colors work together.

Has anyone ever used Drops Flora yarn? I want to make a shawl for MIL and wondered if it would be soft enough? It's 35% alpaca 65% wool...would that be ok? I am rubbish at choosing yarns that are different from the pattern.

I am having a hard time trying to use the HL I Love this Cotton. I like the feel of it, however, I can't seem to get a straight edge or row. If anybody uses it and can give a tip? What size hook, I am using what the package said but maybe someone has had better luck with a different size.
