In the past few years I have been trying to check off items I want to do before I kick the bucket as my grandpa always said. I was able to be at the ocean and open my eyes and see the sun rise over the horizon. I was able to see the Grand Canyon and the Statue of Liberty.
I just paid for a one day bus trip to New York City Rockefeller Center at Christmas time. I want to strap on skates for about 30 seconds and get a photo. I will finally after decades see the Rockette's show. I am taking my son who will have just graduated from college as a part of a graduation gift.
Best of all, I have a childhood pen pal I have NEVER met who lives in the Bronx. She plans to come with her daughter to meet us. I got her name from the back of a fan magazine when we were both in 7th grade and now we are going to turn 60!
I am so excited about the pictures I hope to take. I have a few papers here and there that I bought for when I finally got to go on this trip, and now I need to find them and use them!
Are you taking or making opportunities to check off your bucket list? What kind of things do you want to do?

Good on YOU, myboysnme for taking the steps to make this happen! And it is fabulous that your ds is going with you AND that you will get to meet a "virtual" friend. Sounds like it will be an AMAZING experience! Just got back from a Mediterranean cruise, where I had the opportunity to visit Rome and a town near historic Pompeii. When I was in university, I had the opportunity to take part in a dig at Pompeii one summer, but turned it down due to finances and other life commitments. Have always wanted to see the ancient ruins of the Roman empire, especially Pompeii, so this was definitely on MY bucket list! I have been to Denmark, where my mother's family started out, and to central/south America to get a feel for the way my father grew up in British Guiana. One place I have NOT been is Britain, where my dad's family originated. That is definitely still on the list. Just have to figure out when and how I can get there.

Are you taking or making opportunities to check off your bucket list? What kind of things do you want to do? First, let me just say how awesome your trip is! It is amazing to me that you will be meeting your long time penpal!!! And your plans for the photos you will take and have taken of you sound so good. My bucket list is kind of stagnant. I have all kinds of things on it, but not the free time or money to do them. My bucket list includes: Take a cruise to somewhere with warm, soft sand and clear, blue water. Visit a west coast beach, and stay for a week during the summer. Visit Italy. Ireland, England, Scotland. Visit Canada. See Niagara Falls. Earn a college degree. Take a painting class for beginners. See the Grand Canyon. I could go on and on. But it's more of a list of "If money were no object....." I guess it's a good thing that I'm more of an everyday scrapper.

I just want to say that I think it's fantastic that you have kept your pen pal all these years and that you are going to meet! I had pen pals when I was a kid also, but we all lost touch after high school. I remember a few of my favorites and would love to have continued our writing.

I admire your spirit to live your dreams!
I am applying for a doctoral program, which is something I've wanted to do for nearly ten years. It's exciting and scary all rolled into one.

I have a list of 40 things I wanted to do after I turn 40 (I am now 55). I can check-off: earn a college degree, go white-water rafting, see Grand Canyon. Working on planning our trip to see all the missions in California. Long-term is visiting all 50 US states.

My bucket list isn't very long or extensive. One is to travel to Spain and we are doing that next September for 3 weeks. I am really looking forward to that.
I want to own my own home. It needs to have good air conditioning in it. I want a townhouse something like what my BFF owns. It's really nice, big, lots of nice sized rooms, big kitchen, living room, dining room, lower level, but it has to have a/c. (I am not envious of her house as I love the house we are in don't get me wrong...but I mean one day).
To be made a grandmother, but that is entirely up to my son and his future wife and God I think. I want to love all over a baby again. I hope he doesn't wait as long as his father did to get married. That's all I ask.

Your trip sounds amazing and how wonderful to finally meet your pen pal. My bucket list is mostly travel related. My partner tells me the places I want to go are weird but my list includes Machu Picchu, the Bolivian salt flats, Lake Baikal in Siberia, and Pripyat (the town left deserted after Chernobyl). I have some less weird places on my list too. I'd love to go back to England and spend more time both in and out of London. I want to go to Lapland to Santa's village. I want to see Neuschwanstein castle in Germany, and visit Slovenia and Croatia. I would love to visit Pompeii (I'm so envious grammadee!) and spend more time in Italy. I want to ride in a hot air balloon over the desert and see the hot air balloons in Cappadocia.

I want to own my own home. This is also on my bucket list. Currently saving for this takes all precedence over spending money on my travel-related bucketlist wishes.

It is so fun to see everyone's list! I think it might be fun if I made a little album of my bucket list items with room for a photo as I actually do them!
Have any of you actually bought scrap supplies for places you hope to go or things you hope to do? I have!

Have any of you actually bought scrap supplies for places you hope to go or things you hope to do? I have! I bought "Old World Travel" before I left on my Mediterranean cruise. But have not had the time or energy since I got home to see if it works with my photos. I DO have the photos now, so if the stars align... I tend to collect travel lines. Might have to turn this around and decide to visit the places they evoke. Like Paris. How else would I ever use all those Eifel Tower images???

I'm not a bucket list type of person, but I am really excited for you! There's nothing quite like NYC at Christmas and you will love the Rockettes show! How awesome about your pen pal. So many picture worthy memories to be made. Have the best time!

I'm not a bucket list type of person, Haha! Maybe it's something some old people do as time starts ticking down. I didn't have one until I hit 50 and I realized I might never do it if I didn't make it happen.

My bucket list WAS to photograph every County Courthouse in American. Won't get to do that there are 3144 counties. My revised list is to get people from all over the country to send me a photo that they take of their county (or counties near them) and send them to me to make a scrapbook page. So far I have all of Washington, Arkansas, Kansas and Ohio. I will be able to take of New Mexico. I have some other counties but I NEED lots more. If anyone can help me out on this it would be great. I want to leave the scrapbooks from my Granddaughters to show them how people will be willing to help you achieve your dreams.
