My friend posted this:
Does everybody know about foundation primer? I think it's the product that makes the most dramatic improvement in imperfections like wrinkles and pores. It's like viewing your face through frosted glass. I've turned a lot of friend on to them.
Clear primers come in dewy and matte finishes and some color correct. If you just want to give one a try for the first time, I'd suggest NYX Studio Perfect Primer- $12.99 at Ulta.
NYX also makes a pricier one (16.99) called "Honey Dew Me Up" that offers a dewy finish with hylauronic serum and a golden tint.I started using Smashbox primer, but NYX is virtually identical for a lot less, IMO. CVS carries it.
2 tips- apply primer around your nose and under eyes after applying your moisturizer or serum and let it dry a while before tapping-on foundation, concealer or face powder. Mix a dab of primer 50/50 with your foundation on the back of your hand to make a BB (beauty balm) for daytime. Then use straight foundation for more coverage in spots. ========================================
I decided to try it and have used "Honey Dew Me Up" I can't really tell if it is doing anything or not, but I have only used it 2 days.

I use the Smashbox photo finish matte primer bcz my T zone is oily. Yes, I do think it makes a difference, sometimes I just wear a little of that on weekends bcz it smoothes things out and less shine.
In an effort to reduce cost, I tried the NYX primers and I did not like them enough to switch. I wait til I get an Ulta coupon to buy Smashbox.

I heard the Neutragena primer was supposed to be good, but I don't notice a difference.
I don't wear foundation because when I have on foundation, it seems to age me! I notice lines that I didn't know I had. I would love to find a foundation that actually improves my face, but it's too expensive to keep trying new ones. I do have some dark spots that I would love to cover though.

I don't use a primer, I tried a Max Factor one and it was awful. My foundation looks fine without it.

Don't buy the expensive primers. Use Monistat Chafing Gel. It's the same thing, works amazing, and is MUCH cheaper. My girls and I have used it for 8+ years.

I don't care for the silicone-based primers like Smashbox. I hate the way they feel on my skin. I use J.One Jelly Pack, which has both skincare benefits and is a great primer.

I seem to be having trouble with foundation lately. Every one I've used recently seems to get cake and sits more in the low parts (some might suggest those low spots are wrinkles, but I prefer low spots lol)
Not sure if a primer helps. I've tried it and there doesn't se to be a difference.

For me, primer is a must. My go to primer is Laura Geller Spackle with SPF. I also like Benefit Porefesional, but it's more expensive so I use it just for going out or special occasions.

The only one I tried that I liked better was by Dr. Brandt. I think it was called Pores No More or something like that. It was very expensive, and the Monistat is a close second, certainly worth saving the money to buy this instead. SaveSave

I tried a couple of expensive primers, then I found this. It works as well or better IMHO, and oh so much cheaper. Best hint ever. If you don't believe us, just try it, you won't be out much $$$ and you'll be amazed!! SaveSave

I use PrimeTime from Bare Minerals. It makes a definite difference in the way my face looks.
My interest is piqued about the Monistat. I've added that to my weekly shopping list!

I don't wear foundation, but I use a primer to hide my pores and make my forehead not be shiny. I assume it must hold my blush longer.

For those of you wanting to sample or looking for an inexpensive option to use everyday, check out the $6 e.l.f. primers; they come in different colors/formulations.

I've used Smashbox Photo Finish in the past and recently was put onto Arbonne's primer by a friend. I like the Arbonne product but it is expensive. Going to try the Monistat as well!

I don't wear foundation or use a primer....however, I'm very curious as to what makes someone say, gee, I think I'll try using this chafing gel that's meant for other parts of the body and see if it works as a face primer. LOL I'm not asking to be snarky...I just read the package of the chafing gel and it made me kinda laugh out loud and had me scratching my head...I would have never thought to try it and I admire people that think outside the box. So much so that I just might buy some and give it a go...LOL

Dunno, I've never used the chafing gel, but I do read ingredients and might notice that.

I do have some dark spots that I would love to cover though. Revlon Colorstay Whipped Though you won't like it if you don't like the feel of a heavier foundation. I love it, full coverage and it's moisturizing and doesn't sit in the fine lines. I actually get a lot of compliments on my skin when I'm wearing it (I tell them it's smoke and mirrors, lol)

I just spent $45 on Makeup Forever HD and I'm not impressed at all. Even the powder I bought to go along with it is blah.
