So when do I get used to my hair getting caught in my purse strap? lol I have for now switched to a purse I put on my elbow. Also, what are the best curlers to use? I would like to wear them to bed if possible, maybe with a wet head. And how does it work? I have seen some that have a setting gel too, do I need that? I feel like a kid here. I have a curling iron, but I think that would be best for shorter hair. Tell me everything...please!

I get mine caught on my purse strap all the time. It always feels like I am tugging on it. I see people who have no problem with their longer hair getting it caught. Are we just a special interest group who gets hair caught on purse straps or something?
Also purse straps falling down. Mine always fall down on me. I hate that. I don't see anyone else struggling with it. I have thick straps and skinny ones and they both fall down. Maybe I am not a good purse carrier?

My hair is almost mid back and I never get it caught in the car door, so maybe you'll luck out. However, my husband pulls it like elevety billion times a day trying to hug me or rub my shoulders or rolling over in bed, so there's that. Long hair just gets in the way of stuff. I use a curling iron on mine. I just never learned to use curlers properly, so I hesitate to use them. I try not to use heat more a than a few times a week so I'm not over stressing my hair (anymore than dying it blond already does.)

It has to be really windy out and your hair has to be pretty long for it to happen - that's the length where you can start measuring to see if it is long enough to donate!

I've been letting mine grow out and it's a bit lower than mid back, but I keep it pulled up all the time so it doesn't get caught on anything. I don't know what the point of long hair is in my case. I am thinking about getting it cut to just below my shoulders.

I gave up sleeping on curlers decades ago. My hair is mid back, and won't dry overnight in curlers. I have to fan it out on my pillow to get it dry.
My hair never held a curl very well, and that is especially true with long hair. That said, I use a large diameter curling iron on occasion to smooth it out and bend up the ends a bit.

I didn't know people still slept with curlers....I could never do it....my hair is so thick that it would still be wet half way down the strand if it's wrapped up in a curler.
My hair is mid way down my back and I never it caught on the car door, but it does get pulled by my dh while sleeping should he roll over on it like a previous poster said.

My hair gets caught on everything it seems, but my purse is the number one annoyance. It's waist length though. I love it and don't want to cut it even mid back so I'm growing thicker skin on my scalp. LOL!

Dry hair, style, then roll up your hair and leave in until the rollers are cool. I use my flat iron most days. i have to wash my hair everyday so I style differently everyday.

When my hair was super long it would get caught under my armpit at night when I would turn over and omg it hurt even DH would get it caught under his arm.
As for the rollers back in the day when I wanted it curled (which was very rare) I would use the pink granny rollers. They're foam and you always see grandmothers wearing them lol. Worked well.

I don't carry a purse usually, just a wristlet, so no problem there. I've never had mine caught in a door either, and it's mid-back length. I'm also a straightener, never a curler, that just looks like too much work and I like mine straight and sleek. So I'm absolutely no help to you, but have fun with your longer length. I love my long hair too much to ever cut it .

Ugh the armpit...yes! and rolling round in bed has gotten a bit awkward...lol. I have seen those available too, I thought maybe the others would be better, newer maybe. They are flexible curling rods.

Mine got caught in the window as it was rolling up.
I donate mine every 2 years and cut it to my shoulders.

Sleeping in curlers sounds like a nightmare, how would you get comfy? My hair is long and I use a sea salt spray and let it dry naturally to create loose curls, this is the one I find works best Sea salt sprayThe only thing that really bugs me about long hair is that it sticks to my lipgloss when it's windy!

DDs have had good results using rag rollers (just cut up an old tshirt, I think)- Similar to this technique, then style the curls as desired. or putting their hair up in a sock bun at night (wet or dry)- Like this!
Both are much more comfortable than the pink foam curlers I wore to bed when I was younger! I usually put my hair in a ponytail at night, using a scrunchie or headband that's softer than a regular pony tail holder. I just get way too hot if I don't. Of course it doesn't all stay in throughout the night, but it helps a lot. You could also loosely braid it to keep it from getting caught on something while you sleep.

My friend recently got her hair cut because she got it caught in her arm pit! I just cut mine all off! But I did love the convenience of Hot Rollers. I have a small travel set that my daughter uses when she want curls.

I have a 42 piece twist flex curler set coming my way, to be delivered tonight. It is not heat, I figure I will wash my hair tonight and when it is still damp, wrap them and sleep in it. Do I put a leave in conditioner in too? I think I will try that...I am so excited to see curls tomorrow...

Sleeping in curlers sounds uncomfortable. I used to do it as a little girl and hated it. My hair isn't as long as it was, but I do get it caught in my purse strap and that's annoying. Have fun w/your long hair. If you're having a bad hair day you can just put it in a ponytail and you're good to go.

I find that curling irons don't work as well as wands. I have a cheap Nume wand that works great and the curl will stay in overnight (just touch up the next day). It's pretty quick to do, and for two days of wear I think the time is worth it.
