Mine is so boring compared to some! I took dd this morning at 7:30 and walked right in. We were in and out in about 10 minutes.

In theory, I am doing homework. LOL!
We will be going to vote after my husband comes home from work this afternoon. It's the first time the boy will vote.

I'm just curious - do you mean you didn't even have an option to vote today in person? If so, why is that? SaveSaveThere are a few states that are vote by mail only. Oregon is one (don't know where the pea you quoted is). No, there is no place to vote in person today (or any day). There are ballot drop boxes, though, if you didn't mail in time. Why is it this way? Beacuse we voted a long time ago to make it this way and Oregonians overwhelmingly love it. No worries about long lines or time away from work, high voter turnout, plenty if time to study the issues and complete your ballot thoughtfully, etc. It is a great system and especially when I see these insane lines, I'm baffled that more states don't adopt it. Our state has the electronic ballot collecting / scanning things at the polls. DH and I voted last week, and while we were there a little older lady went to put her ballot in and the machine kicked it back out. The election judge told her she voted for too many people running for school board. The election judge helped her get a new ballot because she had to start over, but she was able to go back and do it right away. How are those kinds of issues resolved when you only have mail in or drop off ballots?

DH and I voted before heading off to my doctor appointment. My polling place didn't have any stickers! I feel I got robbed!

I voted a couple weeks ago. We don't get stickers, which is the only thing about vote-by-mail that i don't like. Your icon expression is perfect for your post. SaveSaveSaveSaveThat was my thought, too!!

How are those kinds of issues resolved when you only have mail in or drop off ballots? If you realize you made a mistake, you can contact your elections office and get a replacement ballot. The ballots are very clear on how to vote, and you complete it at your own pace, with no pressure in the voting booth, so I imagine confusion like that is a bit less likely. But if you mail it in and there's an error, I'm not sure if it invalidates the whole ballot or just vote(s) with the error(s).

DH, DD & I sat down last week to go through our ballots. We probably voted the same on the big races, but I know we varied on local and the CA Props. Our mail-in ballots were dropped off at the library so I could get a sticker. I couldn't add a photo of mine, so pulled this image off the internet.

http://instagram.com/p/BMPEykJjoUQ I voted on Halloween. My oldest has out of school today because his school is a polling station (ours) and I figured it would be easier taking 2 kids versus 3. Usually hubs is in and out of our location in 10 minutes or less, but I just have a feeling that this year is going to be very different and I just didn't want to risk it.

DH was in line when the polls opened. He said there were 18 people ahead of him. He commutes to work so voting at 7am was easier than the after work crowds. I went a little after 9 and only has to wait for each worker to verify and pass my id down to the person explaining the ballot. I was done within 10 minutes of walking in.
My sticker is a boring blue oval. And no one in town is doing any freebies. DH got $1 off his coffee at the coffeeshop near his office.
A lot more people watching than I ever remember though.

The poll workers didn't coordinate handing out stickers. I got 1 before and 1 after voting. They are usually quite generic. Once again my name came up twice in the system, that's what happens with common names. Proved my address with my license and I voted. FTR, everyone was showing their licenses.

Here's my somewhat emotional voting story:
When I arrived, I saw a woman dressed all in white, so I commented and she asked me to take her picture next to the American flag and then I told her about Susan B. Anthony's grave (which I read here, thank you) and she started crying and then I got teary and then I voted for Hillary Clinton (!) and then I voted all Green Party for the Water Reclamation District commissioners ('cuz duh) and THEN...wait for it...I voted to repeal the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution (swear to God) and put gun ownership laws under control of Congress 'cause that's the kind of crazy resolution my granola town regularly offers me.
I am definitely feeling my inner hippie today.
Goddess bless America.

That New York sticker is awesome! I don't know how to post a picture, but the Illinois sticker is fine, with a flag and "I Voted" at the top. But I'd think since we're the Land of Lincoln we could come up with something a bit more creative.

But I'd think since we're the Land of Lincoln we could come up with something a bit more creative. Depends on your county, I think. I used to get the boring one, but my sticker from Cook County - posted a couple posts up - has new graphics and it says "I voted" in English, Spanish, Chinese and Hindi. And I just googled (to unsuccessfully find out whether "Chinese" is Mandarin or Cantonese) and found out that the stickers cost 0.0035 cents each.
