Today I would like to express my gratitude for music. It is the first thing I remember when I think of growing up: my oldest brother bought himself a guitar and taught himself to play, and the whole family would sing along. It became the goto activity at any family reunion since. My son took up the guitar in his teens and went on to play in several bands. Music can help us feel. Nothing like a sad song, or a mad song on a bad day. It calms babies and small children: that last song at night is what leads them to dreamland. And it can help us heal. When I was in a coma, my family played my son's music, and I believe it helped bring me back. And who doesn't want to burst into song when they are on top of the world? 30 Days of Thankful Day TEN prompt: MUSIC Here is my page. It has a photo of my surviving two brothers playing and singing at our oldest brother's funeral. Every passing has had a special song, and even years later when I hear that song, memories come rushing back. And when I need to feel close to that person, I sing the song--often belting it out in the car all by myself. music by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Another beautiful layout and story told. Music is healing. Maybe music might help all that are hurting today.
They say to talk to the person in the coma, so your sons music was definitely speaking to you!
I'm waiting for tiny kitty pictures to do todays layout, but I didn't feel like working on it today after a very late night. DD17 asked me if I would put ALL of our kitties on the page (4 plus 2 that passed) so I'm going to print them at 2x2 each.
I'm not sure what tomorrow will be. I'm HOPING that DD17 will want to go feed the buffalo and elk tomorrow, and if so it will be her day. If not I think I'll do DS29. I need to start working in my kiddos! DD19 will be at some point when she's home for ten days for Thanksgiving...and I am truly thankful for that!

Leonard Cohen died today. I may have picked the wrong year to try this project.

Leonard Cohen died today. I may have picked the wrong year to try this project. That is sad. But we all have a lot to be grateful to him for.

Great topic! I've thought of scrapping specific songs that remind me of loved ones that have passed on.

Music brings back such memories for me. I guess I am most thankful for happiness that music brought to my mother. My mother was a bit of a tortured soul, and she was always most at peace and most happy when she was surrounded by music. She loved all kinds of music. She could not sing a note, and was not much of a dancer, but she could whistle any song, from the intricate classical notes, to the current pop song, it was amazing. I wish I had gotten a recording of her whistle, I miss it so much.
