Lately I have ordered most of my supplies from scrapbook.com because they have everything and reasonable international shipping (between 10 and 15 $). Today I got a mail where they are SO exited about their new carrier and tracked shipping, so of course I had to test it. I "ordered" items for $ 15 and guess what the shipping would be?!?! $ 32!!!! Why do they do this? I have never had a package get lost in the mail, and I order a lot from different companies. Is that really a problem?
I will never pay that much in shipping and can´t understand that anyone would be willing to do that either.... So, any one know of a great scrapbook store with reasonable shipping?

A cherry On top is very often my "go to" place anymore ... and I'm sensitive to shipping costs!

I second A Cherry on Top for their service and selection. I don't know about their international shipping rates though.

Wow. That sounds a lot like SC. I can't see that boding well for them. In fairness, SC is ok with international shipping outside of special sales, past kits and albums. I almost exclusively purchase nationally just because international shipping is such a party pooper. I can get free shipping for 25€ orders from a specific retailer so I'm a bit spoiled and alright with not always having the exact product I was looking for in exchange.

Ugh that's so annoying. I've ordered a lot from SB.com because of the reasonably shipping as well. I think it's the rising shipping costs that are going to completely kill the kit clubs and the whole industry in the end.

Unfortunately, for me, the shipping was on $4 (US), and I bought stuff.:-P

No. I mean SC sent out emails saying how great their new shipping changes were for members when it ended up costing most a lot more. Saying something is good for the consumer when it's the opposite.

I love(d) shopping at scrapbook.com. When ordering small stuff the shipping has been around $6 to Norway. I just added a small stamp set, and now the shipping is $36! Guess my order a couple of days ago was my last there...

Yikes! That's crazy! I'd message them and ask if there's a glitch in the system, because that is NOT better for the customer. (Unless that $32 means it ships and is delivered by the next day, which of course it doesn't.)

Oh, boo! I wish they would give people options, but I guess I understand logistically why they find that difficult. International shipping charges are just ridiculous (even just walking down to the post office to send a small gift overseas, the postal charges are usually much more than the items cost.)

My last order was from Blitsy. Free shipping over $29.99!

I have $58 worth of items in my cart and I just calculated the shipping at $5.99. I'm guessing that the new shipping option is a special service?
ETA I missed the part about this being international shipping. Sorry.

Their shipping use to be high a few years back, then seemed to drop. I'm not surprised it went back up given the price hikes everywhere else. I find that Simon Says Stamp has reasonable int'l shipping charges. They also do flat rate to Canada (orders under or over $75), but I'm not sure if they do the flat rate for countries overseas. But, it'd be worth checking out.
BTW, I find that ACOT is actually really not that reasonable. On average, a small order is around $22+ to me which irks me when I'm spending roughly the same for actual product. They're best to use when they have an international shipping discount code available.

That sucks that the rate has increased. I have always liked their prompt service and reasonable international rates...Simon says used to be my go to....but last few orders have taken so blasted long to get here....like 7 weeks instead of SB.com which can land on my doorstep a week later (2 weeks max)

A cherry on top is REDICULOUS for shipping to Canada. 50% of my order. So I'm sad to hear scrapbook.com has gone this way too because I was still ordering from them. Paper Issues is still reasonable. Simon Says Stamp is very reasonable...but their prices reflect that!

I put together an order of $120 of product - 12x12 paper, stamps, dies and other things just to give an idea and the shipping to New Zealand would have been $12.99. I just had the choice of the 'international' service (as previously) and it didn't offer me any special tracked options. There's nothing about the service on the shipping info page. I wonder if it's a new option just for Europe?

I don't envy the international peas AT ALL. I hate paying anything over $9. Even at that price, whatever I am buying has to be worth it!

Have a look at meilipaperie.com, based in Hong Kong. They don't get in everything, but offer free International shipping on orders over $60.

I wish they would offer a cheap, slow alternative. I'm willing to wait a couple of more weeks for my package to arrive, as long as the shipping is fair. Sounds like they are using UPS expedited with tracking and home delivery. I don't need that. I can pick up my package at the post office.

I gave up on ordering from the US some time ago. On top of the shipping costs, I was also getting hit with customs charges on nearly every order. Thankfully, there are a couple of online retailers in Germany who get new stuff in almost as quickly as many of the US stores, so I just order from them. The product price is a bit higher, but I don't have to worry about added 'surprise' costs.

I've shopped at Simon Says Stamp for years. Shipping to Canada used to be free for orders over $75, but they changed that a long time ago. Now anything up to $50 is $5.99, over $50 is $7.99 but I have always found a coupon for at least $5 off so that pretty much covers the cost. I have found that the speed varies. I actually had an order ship on a Friday and believe it or not I had it on Monday! But it only happened once. Now I tend to receive my packages within about a 2 week span. What I find absolutely ridiculous is the outrageous cost of shipping to CANADA. We're next door and yet shipping from most US based companies is more than the cost of the order!

It seems to be 'special' (high) rates for only certain parts of Europe - the rates for the UK and Germany are the same as for New Zealand.

Aren't there good scrapbooking stores in Canada? I remember there was a place that came up when I googled older Bo Bunny lines. I think it was in Saskatuwan(??) They didn't ship to the US.

You are so close. It's Saskatchewan. There are some good stores in Canada, but the ones I've seen tend to be smaller. None that I know of carry the variety that scrapbook.com does.
