link I'm considering a nice duffle bag like the LLBean I linked to for my 11 year old for Christmas. She has needed one for a couple of overnight events (GS camp etc) and I would like to get one that would last her through high school. My question is what size? I figured that there are a lot of BTDT moms here that could give recommendations.

Those are nice! I especially like the Lime Aztec pattern. I think the medium is plenty big for overnight or several days worth of clothes. The large or extra large would be nice for sleeping bag and pillow. Maybe you could get that for her birthday. DD usually had 2 plus a backpack for GS camp, but hers were mismatched hand-me-downs. Don't you just love LL Bean?

My kids have this one. They got them when they were in middle school and 6 years later, they look like new. They get used multiple times a year--for sleepovers, camp, overnights, Europe, school trips... The wheels are helpful for heavy loads and schlepping them around Europe! They will fit a sleeping bag, pillow, and clothes, skiing winter gear and clothes... Duffle bagThey are 20% off until Monday.

The medium size duffle should be plenty large enough for the uses you're describing, OP. My DD actually had the rolling duffle that basket1lady linked, but her experience with it was different. I liked it for the reasons stated, however, DD hated it! She thought it was too big, and everything inside was always pushed down to one end when she rolled it, no matter how neatly she packed it. But, it was LL Bean so of course it lasted forever, so she passed it down to her little brother who still uses it when he needs something that size. (He's indifferent about it - teen boy - 'nuff said.)

We went to a wedding out of town 2 weeks ago. I wore one pair of shoes and brought a dressy pair in my luggage. DH brought four pairs of shoes, plus the ones he was wearing. FOUR! The main negative I find with the rolling duffle is that they don't stand up (on the wheel end) by themselves. But they may have fixed that. My kids don't seem to be bothered by that, though.

I think I would go large or extra large, because DD seems to often carry clothes, pillow, towel, and a sleeping bag or bedding. I think a big duffle would be more convenient than our current multi-bag method.
