Update 11.16.2016
I won first place in the chili contest today!!!! We had 8 people participate and it came down to a tie between me and one other. Luckily one of my co-workers was on a conf call and wasn't able to participate until after her call so we had her judge just between the 2 tied ones. She picked me!!!
About 30 mins before the voting started our boss said the winner would get next Wednesday off with pay!!!! YAY me I get a 5 day weekend
Thank you to all who posted recipe - the one I chose to make was the Pioneer woman was and let me say I really enjoyed it. I will be making this one again and again

My secret is this.... ground spicy sausage. Brown it into very fine chunks. I put that plus 2 cans of black beans, 2 cans of chili beans and 2 cans of pinto beans into my crock pot. Add a can of spicy rotel ( I like my chili spicy). A can of tomato sauce a can of tomato paste and then start to season. I use a pinch of dried mustard, chili powder, etc. All into the crockpot to simmer all day . An hour before you want to eat it I add brown sugar.
SOOOO good and it wins every time!

My chili recipe is the one on the back of the McCormick chili seasoning spice packet, so I'm probably no help to you.

I use turkey sausage in my chili too, 1 lb. ground turkey and 1 lb. turkey sausage. After that it is really just a basic recipe with kidney beans, black beans, etc. I always get compliments.

DH makes the boilermaker tailgate chili recipe from all recipes. He is making a batch tonight. He does a couple of things differently to keep the sodium count down. When you see the list of ingredients you can will see lots of room for customization.

It was what I was going to suggest *Ü*

I make this chili: Lick Your Lips Chili. I found the recipe in Woman's Day a few years ago and my family loves it. I will make other chili recipes at times, especially if I don't have the time to make this one, and my family berates me for it. This recipe just has a real depth of flavor to it, and I love the combination of beans.

Won't help you for a competition, but we like to use either Wick Fowler's 2 alarm chili or the McCormick spice package. ---around here, there are NO beans in chili!! If beans are in that pot, then it is called "Beans with Chili". ...just saying...

Thank You everyone I appreciate the nice comments
I used the Pioneer Woman Chili recipe -
There was a vegetarian Chili that so many liked but when the manly men found out it was not real meat they were amazed!
