UPDATE 11/12/16: The fire near my girls' school doubled overnight. They are now evacuating part of their county. We are praying that the school is not evacuated. I can't imagine where all of the students from SWU and Clemson would go! We could take a few here but it certainly wouldn't help much. Oh dear! We have had smoke coming into town all week from the wildfires to the west and north of us. The county next to us has had some evacuations. My girls are getting the same smoke in the upstate of SC. We have not had rain in 34 days. The record is 40 days back in the 1800s. We will probably beat the record as there is no rain in site. Our county and many others are under a state of emergency. Please pray for those effected and that the smoke dissipates as it certainly bothers those with health issues. Stay safe everyone!

How scary! We were getting pretty dry here in NW Arkansas, the trees are dried looking, not much fall color, but finally got some rain this week.
Sending prayers for rain....

It is really bad. I was planning a trip to Asheville next week but I will likely cancel. It isn't something I have to do. I've lived here all my life and I don't remember a fall this dry.

Lisa, I have been wanting to go to Biltmore for the day but not sure I will go now. If you go, let me know how it is please. Text me if you want.

All of my state is under a no burn ban. Yesterday someone intentionally set a brush fire next to interstate 65.

I'm in NE GA and the smoke is pretty bad. It looks worse this morning. Me too. I was just thinking this morning how awful it must be for all of the little critters that are forced to be outside in all that smoke. I can't handle it for over a few minutes at a time. It is supposed to clear up some later today. I hope that they get the fires out soon and no one is injured or loses their homes.

We are under a red flag warning right now and had a brush fire in San Diego yesterday. Dealing with the smoke is awful. I hope you get rain soon and the fires are contained without any homes lost.

While we are thankfully not near any fires, the smoke is pretty bad today. I feel so sorry for those near the fires. The lack of rain is very scary. We have lived in SC for just a year but having come from CA, know the drastic results that a drought can bring. On a different note Patter I tried the restaurant you recommended. Twice in one week, lol. Thanks for telling me about it.

Yes, when they drove home yesterday, there was one portion of NC about 45 minutes from us that was SO smokey it was like being in zero visibility fog. We have had clear days and we have had very smokey days this week depending on the winds. We do need rain SO badly!

I am all the way down near Augusta, GA, and we can smell the smoke from those fires. The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area are so beautiful. I pray daily for rain to stop the fires.

We are 100 miles south of Atlanta and the smoky haze has been hanging over us since Wednesday. It was so bad people everywhere thought there was a massive fire somewhere here in town until the news reported what it was from. Unreal that it's this smoky so far away! Praying for the people affected and I hope your girls stay safe! we had rain for about an hour 4 or 5 weeks ago, before that I think it was sometime in July since we'd had any.

Last night driving home from the airport in Charlotte for awhile it looked like it was snowing but it was ash. I have a friend whose husband in a FF with the Forest Service and she has not heard from him for 4 days. Scary times. I'm in WNC
