But you know they're spelled correctly? For me today, it was veterans. I know that's how you spell it, but my mind tells me it's wrong. Drives me crazy- especially since I know tomorrow it'll look fine.
Am I the only one this happens to?

My husband's first name. He always goes by the shortened version. The full version has a couple ways to spell it and I always second guess myself when I'm looking at it. The good news is that he probably wouldn't notice. He asks me how to spell his middle name.

I think any word looks wrong when you've typed it several times.

When is the one that I sometimes think is wrong. Since I learned to spell that word in first grade it always makes me laugh when I doubt the spelling.

Personally I blame my use of the internet. When I see so many people spell things wrong, I second guess myself sometimes.
But I am not perfect. Sometimes I am wrong.

This happens to me all of the time, especially if I am writing the same word over and over. I can remember moving out of my parents' house and boxing up box after box after box of books, and after the umpteenth time writing "Books" on the side of a box, I thought to myself "Am I spelling that right?", and then I had a good laugh at myself, because really, "books", for crying out loud? I'm pretty sure I mastered that particular spelling long before then! But dang, for a moment there, the thought went through my head that the word just looked wrong to me.

Surprise. I cannot remember to add that first r in there, probably because I don't pronounce that r when I say the word out loud. And you would be surprised how many times I spell that one word wrong per week (I am writing a novel).
Canceled, labeled, and traveled also look wrong. I prefer the British versions with the extra "L's".

I made a Christmas card today and used a stamp that said "believe". I was so convinced that it was spelled wrongly that I discarded the stamped section. Later on I checked the spelling and realised it was correct after all. I am good at spelling, and don't usually have a problem with 'believe' but today it just looked wrong!

I feel this way a lot. I used to be a pretty good speller but second guess myself as I am aging. Definitely was one of those for me too that I would want to spell defin ately too but thank goodness for auto correct and/or spell check.

I can't think of it right now, but there was one I had to go type into word to make sure I was spelling it correctly. It looks perfectly fine on the computer (and I recall using it mostly at the start of a sentence, so I am used to seeing the first letter capitalized) but when I was writing it down, it looked completely wrong. The only conclusion I could draw after checking and rechecking (didn't want my journaling to end up messed up) was that it wasn't a word I wrote by hand very often.

Definitely is one that always gets me. I seen to want to spell it definAtely. That isn't a problem word of mine any more, I make sure I say finite in my head when I am typing it - de-FINITE-ly. I always chuckle when I see someone write "defiantly" instead of definitely eg. "I defiantly agree with you." Who are you defying when you agree with me LOL! Yeah, "guarantee" always make me stop and think. Also "relevant". I can never remember if it is relevent or relevant. Now I remember by saying "elephant" - 2 e's then an a. A lot of people write seperate instead of separate. Someone told me a trick for "separate" years ago that I have always remembered: You separate the e's with a's. Isn't English fun?!

Conscience and conscious. I have to pronounce them phonetically in my head in order to spell them correctly.
Have to do that with beautiful, too . (be-A-U-ti-ful)

mine are : unneccessary and naive---I usually think I've spelled them incorrectly, and google to be sure it's correct. Oh, and it drives me CRAZY when people write Viola instead of Voila
