Does any one own the current version of the Apple Watch?
My DH was asking what I'd like for Christmas and I am considering asking for an Apple Watch.
We don't live near an Apple store, so we had to go in to a Simply Mac store. They only have a mock up and no real watches to see and handle. I left the store intrigued about the watches, but with not much in the way of information.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with knowledge or experience, (pros or cons) sharing their thoughts.
TIA

i got one last year. I do wear it almost every day. I hadn't worn a watch in many years. These are some of the things I like about it: --how it notifies you of texts or calls (no sound or vibration can be heard, very private). -- being able to ping my phone when I don't remember where i left it -- doing quick replies to texts (has a some built in that you just touch and it sends for super quick response). I do want to use it more to track my steps, but haven't had the time to research that... if anyone knows of good apps or a way to track, please let me know. I know i don't use it to it's potential, will look back at this thread for more ideas.

My DH has one..and loves it. For all the reasons dualmaestra mentioned. DH is in meetings often and with his watch he can take a quick peek and see who is texting or calling without being so obvious about it.

I have the original one. I wore it for about 6 months but just went back to my Fitbit. I liked it fine, but the battery life sucks and I missed step challenges.

I have had my apple watch for a little over a year. I really love it and I wasn't sure I would. I had stopped wearing a watch, but now I feel weird without it. I have no issues with battery life but I do put it on the charger every night before I go to bed. One of the unexpected uses-if I am cooking or need to set a timer I do it on my watch. Then I never miss the timer going off.
My friend just bought the latest apple watch. She is enjoying it.

I've looked at #2. I like it, but haven't purchased it. It will record what you do, but needs the phone to be within a range to sync and let you know about emails, etc.
I'm just not sure I "need" that. Hence why I haven't jumped on it.

I got one last year for Valentine's Day, and I love it for all of the reasons mentioned above, plus Apple Pay, weather, news.
When you're navigating with Apple Maps, the directions are also on your watch, and it pings you when a turn is coming up. The dictation feature works really well for sending messages, which is great when you're driving. Another cool feature is a remote shutter button for your iPhone camera.
No more digging in your purse to get your phone, or missing calls and texts when you walk away from your desk. It's a luxury, but one that makes my life easier.
Oh, and it tells the time!

I have the Series 2 and love it. I wear it everyday, but I have been a daily watch wearer since I can remember. I was wearing a FitBit prior the the AppleWatch. I work with children all day, so don't have access to my phone at all times, but I have a tween at home and elderly relatives that need to be able to reach me. My FitBit wasn't reliable with receiving texts and phone calls, which in addition to the fitness tracking, is important to me. My school building has 18 classrooms and my watch stays connected with my phone through most of the building. If I want to be sure I get notifications right away, I inconspicuously carry my phone with me. I love the fitness trackers and the heart rate monitor seems more accurate than the FitBit. I also use the phone function quite a bit when my hands are too full to juggle my phone. I also use it for quick weather checks, email, notifications of news, and Apple Pay.
Battery life is much better than I expected. I put my watch on at 5:30am and wear it through 10:30pm. Depending on use that day, it usually has 40-60% battery left. I love that it's waterproof and that there are so many options for switching out bands to take it from sporty to dressy. It takes me back to the 80's, when we had watch options in all colors, for every outfit. My husband bought me a charging station for my nightstand that charges my phone and watch together. I like it so much I think DH must be jealous because he is considering one. But, I will admit we are huge Apple fans at our house.

Thank you all so much! I'm sold!
I should have asked: Where did you buy yours? Apple store (I'm not near one). Another retail location? Online?
We are an "Apple" family - 2 MacBook Pros, 2 iPhone 6's, 1 iPad, 1 iPad mini. I'm looking into upgrading an iPhone 7 Plus - if I can find one. They are all sold out around here.
Thanks for the reviews. I appreciate it.

We're an Apple family, too, so everything syncs across all of my devices right from the start. I hope you like your new watch.

Yes to Best Buy and Target. Never would have thought of that.
Thanks!
And more questions:
- What size did you get 38 or 42mm?
- What color did you choose?
Sorry for so many questions, but I'm interested in what other decided to purchase.
I *do* thank you!

Sorry for so many questions, but I'm interested in what other decided to purchase. I *do* thank you! I bought mine online when it was released through the Apple Store, but I previewed the series one at my local Apple Store. I originally intended to get the stainless case with the Milanese loop band. However, it was a bit pricier than I was comfortable with since the Watch itself would be needing continual upgrades and I wasn't sure I would love it. Then I saw the gold sport with the concrete band. That combination spoke to me. It was a bit of a surprise because I'm not a gold lover, but the gold aluminum doesn't scream GOLD! I got the 38mm; the 42mm was way too big on my wrist. As I mentioned above, there are so many band options outside of Apple's offerings, so l've collected several more bands, including a gold Milanese that matches my watch perfectly.

We got ours online from Apple. My husband and I both got the black stainless steel.
I ordered mine with the black sport band after trying on my husband's. That band is surprisingly comfortable. But, since I like a little more of a bracelet look I ordered several Milanese loop-type bands from Amazon. Moko makes some nice ones that got good reviews online. I like this type of band because it is endlessly adjustable, much more so than a buckle with preset spacing. And I paid less than $15 for each!

Oh wow. Those Milanese bands are beautiful! Love them and the price, too.
I really need to get to a store to see the watches in person.
I not sure what color to buy. My wedding rings are diamonds set it white gold. I wear my rings everyday and only small earrings and necklace.
My watches in the past have all been real silver or silver tone. But I have to admit I love that goldtone. Decisions decisions. Sigh.

I have the first one. I received it for Christmas 2015 and I wear it everyday. I have the 42mm rose gold sport. I chose that size because i don't have dainty wrists and i like the larger screen. Mine came with the stone band but i usually wear with a black band so the rose gold really stands out. We have an apple store but Best Buy is much closer and where DH bought mine. He says he's getting me the 2 for xmas so he can take my 1.

My husband surprised me with one on my birthday last month and I adore it! I'm pretty sure my other watches had a pretty permanent home in the watch box now as I can't imagine my day without my Apple Watch (series 2 I believe it is, it's the newest anyway).
My son has stomach issues that can turn life threatening fast so I wanted a way for him to contact me at work and we can't have cell phones out in the open so having a watch that descretly notifies me of a text and allows me to read and response easily is absolutely what I needed. Also just being able to see things like temp, or calendar at a glance is fun plus all the other features to do with fitness and so much more.
I love this watch so much!
eta: I forgot to mention he got me the smaller size, my wrists are pretty tiny but I was uncertain I'd like the small screen but I've had no issue navigating it and the straps are the sport straps in black, super comfy and I really like the look. Goes with everything that I wear for work.

It looks like a great size that would work for me. I think I'll go to Best Buy today. We want to get our grandson an iPod for Christmas and I'm hoping they have those, too.

i ordered a Series 2 Apple watch on 10/26 and the scheduled delivery date is 11/25. I can't wait and am hoping for earlier. Anyone have experience with recently ordering one thru the Apple Store? I can't wait to get it! My 2nd Fitbit died a couple of months ago, and i was going to go Garmin, but talked to several coworkers who had Apple Watches and was convinced. One told me she liked not being attached to her phone ALL THE TIME, an affliction i suffer from as well (self-imposed, i know...).

I have the smaller one in Rose Gold with the gray band. I like the black band shown above with it! Maybe that should be on my Christmas list. I've seen women with the larger watch, and it looks good too.

I have had my watch for almost a year and love it. I held out for a long time not sure if it was worth all the hype. It is! No battery problem and I love that I can change the bands to match my outfits

I got mine a few months ago, and I love it.
I use it to track my steps, I love how it notifies me of texts or phone calls when I forget I have my phone turned off. I also like being able to quickly answer a text with "canned" responses.
I have much to learn about it, but I think it was worth the price.
I have several bands. I have ordered some from Casetify (they have a ton of very cool patterns, but take a long time to arrive). I also have ordered several from Amazon (the knock-offs) which are pretty well exactly like the original apple ones at 1/5 the price.
