The opening skit has only shown where I live. Kudos to SNL for keeping it classy and a tribute to Leonard Cohen as well. It could have gone very wrong. Dave Chappelle is making me laugh so far.

I agree! I think that was a great opener. Tonight's show has been good so far!

oh shoot....hubbs and I forgot tonight....and if Dave Chappell is hosting, it's probably a great epi--he is SO funny! We stopped watching last year, but THIS year, we LOVE seeing the OPENING skits; usually LOL-worthy! !! Then we usually get bored and don't watch the rest. I DO always enjoy Weekend Update, though. We'll have to watch it online tomorrow. Maybe we'll end up enjoying the ENTIRE epi for a change...are the skits finally good this week? P.S....I was interested to read everyones' comments on Benedict Cumberbatch (sp?) hosting last week--- If I remember correctly, most peAple here thought the skits weren't very good except maybe one or two? We watched his monologue, but I was busy with something else and didn't watch more. I did hear hubbs LOL a couple times, but he only watched about half of the show.

I was surprised to see Kate do such a serious tribute. It was truly beautiful. I was happy that they kept it simple, classy, and moving.

I loved the opening. It was perfect.
Dave Chappelle was a bit disappointing, IMO. I fell asleep during his monologue.

I'm pretty sure I recorded SNL last night. Now I'm really looking forward to watching it.
I'm in the minority in that I thought Benedict did a GREAT job last week. And it's funny seeing his name again because I just watched Dr. Strange at the movies last night and he was so awesome in that too.

I loved the opening, agree the skit watching the election coverage was excellent and feel that Weekend Update is finally getting back to being as good as the Seth/Tina/Amy days.
