We usually make the Libby canned pumpkin pie recipe, but I want to try something new and exciting this year. Since the peas know everything, does anybody have a great pumpkin pie recipe? p.s. It can be weird because I will also make a normal apple pie

My mom makes the Libby canned pumpkin recipe with a change. She doesn't use the pumpkin pie mix one, just the plain canned pumpkin and she doubles all of the spices. It is amazing!

I usually make the standard Libby pumpkin pie then my SIL started bringing a pumpkin torte that is 9x13 with a graham cracker crust, cream cheese and cool whip. The last few years, her's was eaten and mine wasn't so I just stopped making it. Also, stopped making standard pecan pie as the family likes pecan pie bars better. I'll see if I can link the recipes...

I like this one - I still use the evaporated milk instead of the cream, but this one is a really nice one! Pumpkin Pie

Paula Deen has Ooey Gooey Pumpkin Bars that are to die for (maybe literally). The crust is a cake mix, 8 TB butter and one egg. It tastes like sugar cookies. Then the ooey gooey part is a can of pumpkin, 16 oz of cream cheese, butter, and some spices. It is sugary goodness from the first to last bite. I only make it once a year.

I made Tartine's pumpkin pie last weekend, it was great. Less sweet. (Tartine is the chez panisse of bakeries) - if you google it you'll find the recipe.

Try making it from a fresh pumpkin! I used the rercipe in the Taste of Home website -sorry don't have the link. The pie comes out incredibly light! You just have to plan because you have to drain the fresh pumpkin overnight.

Pumpkin PieThis is the first recipe I saw when Googling for great pumpkin pie recipes just now. I love the idea of the secret ingredient - black pepper - and I wanted a recipe that didn't use sweetened cond. milk. Thanks!

Thanks - that sounds great. I don't like very sweet desserts and so appreciate that this pie filling has less sugar than most recipes I've looked at. Do you think it would taste like dessert without the sweet sauce on top, but just a bit of whipped cream?

Do you think it would taste like dessert without the sweet sauce on top, but just a bit of whipped cream? Yes I think it would be good! You could even spice up the whipped cream with a flavoring or some booze... a little rum in the whipped cream would be good!

We're having pumpkin cheesecake courtesy of my dh this year. You could also try a pumpkin cake roll. Those are amazing and would be a fun change from the pie.

I just make a basic pumpkin pie but we like it. I use the One Pie recipe with a few changes. I use 1/2 cup of sugar and about 1/2 to 5/8 of a cup of maple syrup and no molasses. I also cut down on the nutmeg just because I am not a big fan of it. But this is for our taste, I believe that people like the original recipe a lot. I also use the evaporate milk instead of regular milk. One pie pumpkin pie

Pioneer Woman Pumpkin Cheescake with Gingersnap Crust is so good. It's the only cheesecake I've ever made, and it was a big hit.

You just have to plan because you have to drain the fresh pumpkin overnight. I use fresh pumpkin also. I roast milk pumpkin in the oven until the flesh is soft (cut pumpkin in half, remove seeds and face down on rimmed baking sheet). I scoop out the flesh and drain overnight. Next day I run the pumpkin thru the food processor. The custard filling is simply two eggs, 1/2 cup each of brown sugar and white sugar, pumpkin pie spice and one can of evaporated milk mixed with two cups of the puréed pumpkin. A family favorite.

I use this one and get lots of compliments: www.taste.com.au/recipes/6226/pumpkin+pieThere's nothing different in it but it's tasty. I just cook the pumpkin and then mash/process it and add the other ingredients. Gilly.
