For the 16th, I want to highlight the role that CREATIVITY has in my life. It has provided a way to approach problems with solutions in mind, an enjoyable pastime, and an opportunity to share with others.
Prompt for November 16th: CREATIVITY.
From my family of origin, I have developed a way to deal with the problems life throws at us: "There HAS to be a better way!" If you can imagine something different, maybe you can DO something different and get a different result. If you try something and fail, at least you have learned what DOESN'T work: try something else. I have come to believe that this attitude is the heart of creativity, just being open to trying new things.
I love playing with paper, creating pages and cards and gifts. It gives my right brain a well needed workout, and lets my left brain rest from keeping on track with the demands of day to day life. When I am in my scraproom, I am surrounded by possibilities. And if what I attempt doesn't work quite like I had planned, I have the option to embrace it or redo it, and either is perfectly okay.
And I am thankful for all the time I have been able to spend with my grandkids creating something, whether it is colouring Easter eggs, building Lego trains, scrapbooking, baking, or creating with crayons or paint or playdough. Whether they approach it with a sense of adventure or a drive for perfection, I love watching them enjoy the process &/or the results. I love watching their skills and confidence grow. And I feel blessed when they choose to share their creative time and results with me.
I don't have a page for this yet, but hope to have one ready to post at some time Wednesday morning.
How has creativity played a role in YOUR life?

Creativity, or scrapbooking, got me through some difficult times while I was sick. My sister wanted only JOY in my life. I was encouraged to scrapbook whenever the creativity was there, because each round of strong chemo (or the excruciating pain before diagnosis)would rob me of it. I would even put scrapbook supplies on DH's side of the bed while he was at work and nap with them!
Then I started using scrapbooking as therapy. I made this one layout to say goodbye to the old me, thinking there was no way I'd ever look as young, or have pretty hair again. It wasn't about being bald(I wore that just fine), but more about that me being taken away.
I also went through a time where I needed our lives documented. What if I couldn't be here to tell all our stories? What did I want to tell my family.
I was NEVER in pictures. I hated seeing myself in pictures usually. That changed immediately. Get in the picture. Who cares if you're having a bad hair day? I scrapbook about me ALL THE TIME!!! It is so important.
The year I was sick (2013) I made 650 pages. 2014 I made 750. Last year it was over 1000! This year? Not so much, and not counted. It must be over 200, but I haven't counted. I needed to be creative...and I was. For me, for them.

Love your story, iheartpaper! Here is my page for today. I ended up featuring ART, because I had a photo of my dgd colouring. But that is definitely part of the "Creativity" theme! I treasure the times these girls colour and paint and create when they are here. The oldest one takes over my scraproom, and the other two move all the crayons and paints into the living room and dining room, and away we go! art & creativity by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

That seems like the kind of grandparent you are...they must be very thankful for you!
