Have you seen it? What do you think?
I'm having trouble sharing a link on my phone. If you search "Amazon Commercial priest and cleric" you can find it. I'll keep working with my phone.

I love it! I am sure there are some that may feel differently for various reasons. But it makes me feel good to see it and I stop and watch it every time it comes on.

Wow. Well done.
Two thoughts for me (ymmv): 1. It will drive the islamophobics mad - "see, they're even in OUR Christmas ads now!" 2. It's too bad they spend any energy on their knees to something that may or may not be true instead of on their feet to all the things that are verifiably true.

It sends a wonderful message with charm and humour and sticks two fingers up at those who don't want to get on with their neighbours.

Ordinarily I wouldn't be a spelling Nazi for this type of post, but spelling "imam" "iman" led me to believe this had something to do with the model Iman, which led me to believe this was another superficial celebrity thread, which almost caused me to scroll on by.
And that would have been a shame, because I liked the video a lot.

cute commercial! and I saw nothing about Christmas in that ad-- they're just giving each other a useful gift.

I love it.
I went to a Catholic university and earned my theology credits with classes on various faiths. We had a priest teach the class on Christianity that I took, a rabbi teach the class on Judaism, and an imam teach the class on Islam. It wasn't unusual to see them hanging around together on campus, and the atmosphere within the theology department during that time was very open and inclusive.
IMO, people are really more alike than different in the grand scheme of things.

I also thought it was going to be a thread about David Bowie's wife, but even then, I thought-- "her first name is the same as the name for a Muslim cleric-- huh- I wonder why, must be some familial reason...' LOL!!

Great commercial, Amazon. I also love the beautiful windows the Episcopal priest had in his home.

I saw it for the first time this morning and loved it! To me it shows at the end of the day we are all just people. I loved that they bought each other knee pads. Whoever created that commercial I give them

It's too bad they spend any energy on their knees to something that may or may not be true instead of on their feet to all the things that are verifiably true. Except they can't say much as the priest is playing himself and the Imam is playing himself too. The priest is the Rev Gary Bradley, an Anglican vicar of Little Venice in north-west London and the imam is played by Zubeir Hassam, principal of the Muslim School Oadby, in Leicestershire, who plays an active role in forging closer links between faith communities in the area. Part of it was filmed in a parish church and also at a mosque in east London.

I saw it last night and loved it. It really struck that "we're not that different" chord in me. Much like the Apple commercial with the Maya Angelou poem.

Yeah, at first I was thinking it was going to be a funny commercial with Iman and Judas Priest. Cuz she was married to David Bowie. I love this one so much more. I know a lot of Muslims in my area and love and respect them. It breaks my heart that they're now afraid that they and their children will be persecuted like they were in their home countries. They gave up everything to move here so their children would have freedoms and opportunities that they could only dream about before. That instead of finding a country that promised freedom of religion and equality for everyone despite their race and socioeconomic status, they found a country full of people who believe that this freedom only applies to certain people. Tolerance is a dirty word and means they're compromising their beliefs that their way is the only *true* way--so everyone else is wrong and isn't deserving of respect. What drives me nuts is how outraged the Christians I know get over people assuming that all Christians have the same beliefs, but they're doing the exact same thing with Muslims and have no problem with that.

For the majority of people in the world, we ARE the same. You have no idea how much I love this commercial.
I really want to share something similar. I teach English in one of the family's schools. This particular school is in a more traditional neighborhood where it is not uncommon to see some women in full niqab (not burka) and many in hijab. As required by the government, we are required to provide a religious Islamic studies class to students starting at a certain age. The teacher for this class is a young guy. When I first met him, I honestly admit that I was for a split second "nervous", if you will, by his appearance. He has a black long beard and could easily pass for one of those guys you would see with the Taliban. Even my husband joked about this. But as I have worked with him each day (he is part of our office staff as well), he is the funniest and nicest person I have met in quite a while. He is always wanting me to teach him English and he helps me with my Arabic. I am constantly humbled in that one should NEVER judge a book by it'S cover.
