That's crazy! She's clearly insane but I deal with the same issue all the time.My Grocery store never has shopping carts because people leave them in the garage so people like myself who walk in have no carts because the employees don't bring them upstairs. Every time I go to the help desk to let them know and every time they do nothing.

Just think of all those people who will be unemployed now simply because The Dollar Store didn't have a cart available for a crazy lady!

Oh my goodness! I can't imagine doing something so crazy simply over lack of shopping carts. If this is how she responds to that situation, what would she do if someone got into a car accident with her. She's seriously messed up.

I actually tried to go to that store today! I didn't realize (until I got there of course) that it was the one I had heard about on the news. Absolutely completely destroyed.

She was obviously not in her right mind. No one rational has that reaction to no shopping carts being available.

But I had to do a doubletake on annabella's post because I have a hard time wrapping my head around a grocery store with a garage. (and I live in a big city, but we're sprawl and not compact, so that would make sense in a more dense urban area).

She told them she was going to set the store on fire, they still let her shop, then she actually did it?
While I've never burned down a store for being out of carts, I did have a melt down over a shopping cart one day. Alison must have been 2-3 months old and was still in one of the bucket carriers. I needed something at Walmart, so we loaded up the car, and when we arrived at Walmart, I got a horrible parking place - waaaay at the back of the lot. I was still driving a little 2 door car at this point (traded it in the day she moved out of the bucket seat), so it was a pain to get her in and out. Once out, baby and diaper bag in hand, I started looking for a shopping cart, but there were literally none in the parking lot. When I got to the store, there were none available there either. I don't know if I said anything to any employees, but I had no hands available to carry my items, so I left and cried in the car. I bet I didn't go back to Walmart again for a year after that.

Goodness, what in the world? She must have been having a really bad day (I'm sure there were some mental illness issues too). That being said, I do get frustrated when our grocery store has no shopping carts and you have to wander around the parking lot looking for one, especially when it is cold and snowy out. But you just have to deal with it and move on. That's life!

Obviously a person who needs to be locked up to keep people safe from her crazy. If all the carts were out in the lot, she could have snagged one as she approached the store. But crazy of course doesn't function in any capacity except promotion of self.

The Dollar Tree closest to my house has exactly two shopping carts which means there is never one available. I have complained and complained and the last time I went in I pitched a bitch about it. How the hell are you supposed to shop with no cart to put your purchases in? I told the manager that I will not shop there any more, and I won't. Those stores are on every corner so now I just go to another corner. I am in California where we have to take our own reusable bags. I suppose next we will need to take our own carts. I guess I can relate to the woman who burned the store down. ETA: I'll bet the carts were not out in the parking lot, they probably just don't have any.

There has to be some issue(s) with that woman. That is just worlds beyond anything I would consider a "normal" response. (And I don't even like the word "normal", but dang, I just don't know what else to say besides "That's not normal." "That's not 'typical'." pales in the face of what she did here.) The only place I have ever consistently had issues finding a cart (or cart "thingie" as the case is here) was at kohl's. but now they have the funny little carts plus big bags, so now it's not such an issue anymore.

Holy shit! I had to read the article to see if it was near Detroit and another visit from the "kick the cake" lady but alas there are at least crazy shoppers in the country.
