2 babies are born at the same time( boy /girl).
They are smuggled out of the castle, and grow on a farm. As brother and sister. But fall in love.
Somehow they are cursed never to be together. ?

One is sickly (the girl?) and the other one robust (the boy?)? I seem to recall that book as well. Maybe a Jude Deveraux book?

Well, you never came back. But I think the book is Remembrance by Jude Deveraux. It's a 3 part story, about souls continuing to connect to each other but have trouble staying connected. It goes from modern times to back in time. The children were born of different parents, but next to each other. A fire happened in the castle and the nurse took both babies and raised them as brother & sister, Callie & Talis.

I remember reading it a number of times in my teens / early twenties...

Me too! That's why it sounded so familiar to me when Megmc described it. Of course it niggled at my brain all morning and I had to find out! It was hard though because I didn't quite remember the details and thought it might be one of her books. But because it was a story within a story within a story, it was a bit hard to find it! LOL!

oh, wait... I got Jude Devereaux mixed up with Kathleen Woodwiss. The Flame and the Flower, The Wolf and the Dove, etc. So I'm not sure I've read the book y'all are talking about here, or not, lol-- I'll have to check it out at the library and find out!

The Flame & The Flower series were the very first historical romances I ever read! I loved them all and stuck with that genre for many, many years.

lol!! they're the very first 'bodice-ripper' type romance novels, written in the early - mid 1970s... the first ones, apparently, that had actual SEX (as in, very descriptively written sexual encounters) between the main characters, according to Kathleen Woodiwiss's Wikipedia page. They're mostly historical romances, IIRC, but I really liked reading that kind of stuff when I was a teenager. (as long as my mom didn't catch me at it, lol)
ETA: VERY flowery, overblown, descriptive prose... I'm not sure I could stomach reading it now at 47, but I did love to read that kind of stuff when I was 18-20. I think I could probably still overlook the overly-flowery descriptions for the storyline.

Yeah, I haven't read any romances in a LOT of years...I've moved on to murder, mayhem and psychological thrillers:D .

I am a Kathleen Woodiwiss fan! My favorite was Ashes in the Wind. The paperback in somewhere in my house, but I am going to get it for my Kindle.
Sorry Megmc, I got off your topic. But it sounds like a good story, so I will have to look into it.

I love the twists he has! I'm a fan of Jonathon Kellerman and a newer guy (to me) Robert Dugoni. I can't get enough of those two guys, but I will definitely check out Harlan Coben...I LOVE plot twists.
