Today I want to focus on gratitude for the HARVEST. It has been a tough year in these parts, with 8 inches of snow falling on fields not yet harvested in October. Thankfully, in the last 3 weeks, many of those crops have been salvaged, but certainly not all. As we were driving to town the other day, we noticed something else that I am extremely grateful for: the way neighbours help each other out around here. As one family finishes their own harvest, they move over to their neighbour's field to help there. In one field, we say SIX combines, picking up the grain and thrashing it for storage. My page for today celebrates the harvest of our garden, but again it shows people stepping up to happily help when needed. And when I think about it, it seems the first Thanksgiving had a lot to do with the bounty of the land and working together to make sure no one went hungry.
