Saturday night Richard B Spencer spoke at a meeting in DC. Spencer has been called the leader of the alt right aka as white nationalist. Spencer has ties to Bannon the new senior adviser to Trump. Bannon has been trying to distance himself from Spencer but there is enough information of this tie between these two individuals "out there" that one should know Bannon is being less than honest about the relationship between these two. In the article there is a video of Spencer giving part of his speech. I listened to it and personally found it disturbing. I didn't like the Hail Hitler type salute for Trump and I especially didn't like this comment. "America was until this past generation a white country designed for ourselves and our posterity, it is our inheritance, and it belongs to us". It would appear that, through Bannon, we now have this type of thinking in The White House. It would also appear with Bannon, Sessions, and Flynn as members of Trump's Administration Trump indeed is emptying the swamp. Problem is he is filling it with even more dangerous destructive alligators.

I saw part of the speech a while ago on the news. My naïve self that lives in a bubble can't believe society would ever allow stuff like this to happen. Notice I said naïve.

I'm right there with you and your naive self. I knew these people existed but I kind of thought they had gone by wayside years ago. But I guess not.

Umm is that the asshat I caught in the news saying that to live is to discriminate? To discriminate is part of life. He discriminates everyday. Everyone does etc??
im sure if called on it he'll spin it as using discriminate in place of discerning or choosing but I got the impression he really meant discriminate in its common use. He was rather smug.

As a conservative white Republican, I am delighted to go on record and state unequivocally that I abhor every aspect of Mr. Spencer's speech.

Trump indeed is emptying the swamp. Problem is he is filling it with even more dangerous destructive alligators. he's drained that swamp...and he's using the land to open up his own version of Jurassic Park!

These people were both very vocal and visible during the campaign. It's not just Bannon. Flynn is also connected to Spencer and the Alt-Right.
This is not the country I know.

I was horrified, I saw this on the national news tonight and actually screamed. Really, can this be happening?

Spencer and company had a similar meeting in DC several weeks ago. At this meeting they called Trump their candidate. I found out about it through Rachel Maddow as her show covered this meeting. Very little was said about this meeting by other media outlets.
I now see Saturday night's meeting is getting all kinds of play across the media spectrum.
I can't help but wonder if the first Spencer meeting, with its implications about Trump, before the election had gotten the amount of media attention this second one did if it would have changed the outcome of the election. Probably not but then we'll never know for sure.

I read that article this morning. It is making me physically ill.
How do we stop this?
I refuse to use the term alt right. They are Neo-Nazi's. Plain and Simple.

If he can twitter about boo's at a play, surely he can twitter about this! He could say he in no way agrees with anything they are about. He could use very strong words in condemning them. So much he could do and say about this group if he wanted to!

I admit I am at a loss as to why there is not a clear and concise denouncement against this kind of group. One could infer based on past behavior that a slight against one if his own would get a very fast negative response (his daughter and her family are Jewish.)

Why on earth would Trump tweet criticism or denounce the Alt Right? They were an integral part of his campaign. They will be an integral part of his cabinet, and will be involved in the running of this country. Kushner's extended family criticized Jared's role in this poisonous cluster long ago, and the family became estranged from him. I have no idea what Ivanka thinks of this, or what her reasoning is. Sadly, I doubt most Americans care.
