We're going to have a houseguest over Christmas break, including Christmas Day. She was originally flying in the day after so I got her gloves and a makeup set from Sephora (eyes, lips, face) but since she'll be here on Christmas morning i'd like to find 4-5 more things for her to have to open.
She's got girly tendencies, but drives race cars so she doesn't do a lot of jewelry/etc, she's homeschooled, and honestly, she doesn't want for much so it'd just be some fun stuff really.
I've got Christmas Eve PJs and a card game makeup palette gloves
I was thinking about doing a blanket from kohls, (everyone gets one) maybe a pair of leggings and maybe a nerf gun, but is there anything rad that 16 year olds are into that i should know about? This is SO far out of what i'm used to shopping for...i'd appreciate any guidance!

I dunno, but maybe some brushes to go with the palette? A company called EcoTools makes some nice little sets. Kohls sometimes has them, but I think CVS and Walgreens might have them, too. Ulta carries them as well. Or a good mascara (I like Clinique's naturally glossy for about $16, and it comes in brown). Or a good makeup remover/wipes/pads.

Hmmmm....find out what books she like and get her a book to start a series. A cute pair of ear buds...the mellow one they are like ten bucks. Some cute socks...Stanz or some kind of desgins. Lotion from Bath and body works. Lip gloss...mine always went though a ton. Jogger pants are the thing for some reason...I hate them but my girls love them. Infinity scarf. Jordan with some gel pens. Scented candle. Slippers....who knew but all of my girls asked for a pair every year. Hope that helps.

I have no idea. But I'm 49 and would love all those things, including the Nerf.

I got one of my DD's an infinity scarf with her favourite book (Peter Pan) from Art from Books and they have some really cool stuff. My 16 old DD also wants eyeshadow palate from Sephora, fuzzy socks, black boots (not such a little gift *eyeroll*), lip glosses, starbucks gift cards, new black socks from H&M (she likes theirs), hair elastics, bobby pins, good hair spray, shampoo, conditioner (not the drug store kinds), good chocolate, a Starbucks cold tumbler in the copper colour (apparently thats 'the' colour to have this year)…

My DD is 17. She likes music, make up, the theatre, dark chocolate and her dog. I like the idea of the make up remover wipes--she loves those. Evidently it's a lot of work to pour some make up remover onto a cotton pad to wipe your face! The make up brushes are a good idea, too.
You can never go wrong with gift cards--Starbucks, Panera, Chipotle, gas cards, the movie theatre... She's in rehearsal every day until at least 6pm and still has her homework (4 AP classes!) when she gets home, so she doesn't have a job. I know gift cards are kind of boring to give, but teens love them.
Some ideas for under $10-a book, a good make up brush, pj pants or a DVD on a Black Friday sale, a nice coffee or tea (to make at home), a cute coffee mug, some of those peppermint pretzel thins--I got some at Target and OMG!
I'm not sure she would even know who Zac Effron is. But she's not really into celebrities.

What about some of those nail things, jam berry? I bought some a while back when a pea liked to eBay, they worked really well and I got lots of compliments. Other than that, eyebrow kit? False eyelashes? Not sure how girly you're talking, I was never into makeup but am starting to get into it. Or maybe some crazy Lula roe leggings?

Some great ideas! Thanks y'all!
I've got starbucks card sephora set slippers leggings nerf gun 6 pack of disney villians socks lipgloss set pjs card game big one blanket and i'm going to find a book-
We're doing nutcracker on Christmas eve, so I think i'm going to not tell them and make it part of the gift. I'll wrap the tickets up with pj's, hot chocolate on a stick, and a little box of See's candies and let them open them that afternoon (she is getting the same christmas eve box as my kids...tradition and inclusion and whatnot) and then the rest on Christmas morning. She should be good..thank you kohls black friday sale! ha

Our teen & early 20's nieces like Coach & Kate Spade wristlets. I've found them for $22/ea when the Coach Outlet & Kate Spade outlet have had deals. They also like bath bombs from Lush.
Does the teen drive? If so, the teens in our area seem to carry their keys & licenses on lanyards w/zip ID cases. Vera Bradley sells matching pieces. I just bought some on a deal for $10/pr.

This is a knock-off on the Yeti cup, but many say it is just as good. I like it so much that I ordered another one (they're on sale right now). (And I like it better than the Ozark cup that you can get at Walmart that is also a knock-off and a similar price.) You could do a vinyl decal of her name if you know anyone that can cut it for you. And then you can girlie it up with this handle, which makes it easier to hold (and also comes in different colors.) A set of Tervis Tumbler plastic bendy straws could nicely round the set out (I hate the recommended metal straws, but use the plastic straws just fine.) Or if you want to go another way, a Tervis tumbler is an idea, and you can order them customized from the Tervis website.

A planner, one of those cute ones from Michael's and get coordinating planner stickers to go with it. It will be useful and fun. Kate Spade is having one of their surprise sales and there are some lower priced items at surprise.katespade.com/, cute wallets, phone cases, and earrings. Also one of those holiday nail polish sets. Blanket scarves, those are really in now and you can find cute ones at Forever 21.

I LOVE their outlet deals!

You've already got some amazing suggestions and I have nothing to add. I just came here to say first that I think you're an incredibly thoughtful person and second - a 16-year-old female race car driver? How frickin' cool is that?!

Okay, another idea... the throws that are on sale now at Kohl's (see the thread about it if you haven't already.) Who doesn't love a soft throw?

My 20 year old DD loves all things soft and cozy -- fuzzy socks, soft throw blankets (like the BIG ONE that were featured in another thread). cozy pj's. She also enjoys girly things like makeup brushes, gift cards for Starbucks, Target, ULTA, Essie or OPI nail polish, cute makeup bags for her purse.
Have fun shopping!

I'm excited for some girly time. Her parents have to do a trip on Christmas day so she's coming to spend a few days with us. She was in sports illustrated, and her grandma is in the NASCAR hall of fame. She's a boss!
