Yes, I've had my head in cyber sand. What is it? How to do it? Are there any negatives?

Likely easier to copy and paste rather than attempt it myself
fEbates is the pioneer and leader of online Cash Back Shopping. The company was founded in 1998 by two Deputy District Attorneys in Silicon Valley who used to prosecute online fraud & identity theft before starting Ebates (so you can be sure we are very into secure online transactions!).
In the summer of 2012, Ebates began international expansion with the launch of Ebates Canada, specifically designed by Canadians for Canadians. More than 500 online stores that ship to Canada have joined the roster of retailers to offer Cash Back, special deals, including free shipping, and coupons to members of Ebates Canada.
Joining Ebates Canada is always free - you'll never pay us for anything. Instead, four times a year or more, we'll pay you! We'll mail you a Big Fat Cheque, or transfer the money you earn to your PayPal account if you'd prefer. We can even send the money to your favourite charity. All 100% free.
Every time you shop online at your favourite retailers, you earn back a percentage of every purchase. From niceties to necessities, members of Ebates Canada save with discounts and Cash Back at top-name merchants for everything from furniture to fashion and appliances to airfare. Shopping with Ebates Canada is hassle-free: no rebate forms to fill out and no points or miles to redeem - just straightforward savings plus Cash Back.
People often ask: "This sounds too good to be true, how are you able to do it?" It's really quite simple. Just like almost every other online shopping centre, we get a commission from the stores when you make a purchase. Instead of keeping that money - like almost all other sites do - we share it with you!
So, as long as hundreds of the world's top online stores are happy to pay a bonus to attract the new, valuable customers we send their way, Ebates Canada is going to continue to send Big Fat Cheques to our satisfied Canadian customers.
Ebates Canada, headquartered in Toronto, ON, Canada, is a division of Ebates Inc., owner of the world's most rewarding shopping programs. The Ebates brand supports a strong community of millions of savvy shoppers around the world. Ebates Inc. websites have paid over $200,000,000 in cash to its members since the inception of the company.
So go ahead, sign up and start shopping now!

I've only been doing it a couple of years but I haven't found an issue with it.

It took me a bit to get on board but I shop a lot online and it just made sense. So in the last 2 years or so I've gotten back about $100. I often forget to go through ebates so still $100 just for doing what I was going to do? Sign me up! We all have links you can sign up under and get money for you and me so if you want one let me know and I'll link you to me. Somebody has it in their signature block... who though... can't remember.

I started this year, I get about $25 or less a quarter. I figure it covers the few times I had to pay for online shipping. I installed the browser button because at first I would forget to go through the ebates link.

If you install the little ebates button on your browser, any time you go to a site that offers ebates money back, a little thing will pop up and ask you if you want to activate the money back and then a new "shopping trip" will start up in the same window. It's helpful and you don't have to go through the ebates site. The app works the same way but some stores will not give cash back through the app, only online. In the one year I've been using it, I've gotten at least $100. The money goes into your PayPal every quarter. The last payout (for me, not sure if it's the same for everyone) was November 15th.
Right now, there are several stores that are offering more than their usual %.
The only issue I've had is with WalMart. They offer 4% back and often it's a week before you see the money in your account. I pretty much avoid them for that reason. Nearly all other sites have the money in your account within 24 hours. Only other exception is hotels. They don't give the money back until you've completed your stay.

I have the browser button too. I like it, there are no downsides IMO. Even getting paid a week or so later doesn't bother me. Free money!

I have not found one in the almost a year I've been doing eBates. I installed the browser button If you install the little ebates button on your browser, any time you go to a site that offers ebates money back, a little thing will pop up and ask you if you want to activate the money back and then a new "shopping trip" will start up in the same window. It's helpful and you don't have to go through the ebates site. Definitely install the browser button. It's fail-proof in remembering to use ebates when shopping. In the almost one year I've been using it, I've earned about $110 so far. Also, keep in mind that if a store has "pick up item in store," and you use ebates to buy it online and then pick it up, you still earn money from it. I do that with Target and Walmart, and even Walgreens, all the time.

My only issue with the browser button is that if I open a shopping trip, then click around to different pages on the website, I get another pop up from ebates asking again if I want to start a shopping trip. It's like the cookies don't remember me and having this pop up come down and cover part of the screen repeatedly is really annoying. Does anyone else have this issue?
I checked my account and it said this year I've already made $75.

The only downside is all of the online shopping I do through apps on my phone, and forget to go through the ebates app. I ordered my Kohls stuff yesterday on their app - then saw somebody on facebook say "Ebates has 9% off at kohls.com" so I reordered everything today though ebates so I could get more money off! But now I have to return the first order. Dumb (on my part).

I love ebates and have been using them for a few years. I just installed the browser button and it reminds you if that store participates. I got quite a bit of money back over the years as I use them for every purchase I can.

I tried it once and made less than $20 in a year. Not worth it for me.

I don't make a lot of $ from it (even less than Dani-Mani), but I don't do a lot of online shopping (or maybe I just don't shop at stores that participate). What I like is the $ I earn stays in my account until there is enough for a payout (there is a minimum, I think $5). The cashback doesn't expire like airline points do.
One thing I'm not sure about is how returns work. I thought that if I did a partial return on an order, that I wouldn't get any cashback.
I do find that cashback at some stores is higher when I shop through my credit card portal so I shop wherever I get the most cash back.

I regularly get $25 a quarter. It will be at least triple after the holidays. I've been using it for a long time and never had an issue.

I use ebates regularly and usually get a $15 check every quarter. My favorite places to shop via ebates is Groupon, Belk and The Body Shop.
