how do you know what size to buy? I am looking at some online, and normally wear a 7-8. If I bought a 7.5, would those fit over my pant legs, or would I have to size up? I've never had any, but there are some REALLY cute ones out there, and our rainy season starts in a couple of months. Thanks!

I bought myself some Hunter rain boots for Christmas. I purchased my regular size, and they fit great. I tried them on before giving them to hubby to hide. LOL! They are hot pink BTW.

I've never lived anywhere rainy enough to need rain boots, so I'm no help, but I would think you could just order whatever size you'd normally wear in a boot?

I just wasn't sure they'd fit over jeans, since they are pull on. I hate pull on boots, because they usually bunch up your pant legs. I normally only wear boots with a full side zipper. If they won't fit over my pant leg comfortably, I don't want them, because they would drive me batty.

Generally if you're ordering online, the description of the boot will include the calf circumference which you can then compare to your calf measurement to be sure they'll fit. If you're buying Hunters, they also come in a wide calf style.

Rain boots are usually wider than regular ones, so you should be fine. I like the ones that have some flannel or other fabric around the tops, which cushions the rubber edge of the boots. Wish I could wear Hunters, but they hit right at the back of my knee...

I'm a 6 1/2 and I think I got a size 6 in my Hunter boots. I don't wear them with jeans though - I usually have on Pixie pants or leggings, unless I'm wearing really narrow skinny jeans.

I have Hunter boots and I bought the size up because I have massive calves. I look like a weight lifter they are so big (to me anyway). I always take a size up in boots no matter what brand, type, style etc. except Uggs. I think I got regular Uggs. My Hunter's I know are a 7. (I live on the wet coast and I have never worn them and I have no reason to not having worn them yet either). There are lots of people my age wearing them but I didn't think I could pull it off.

Check the manufacturer's site and Zappos for information about the boot's circumference and shaft height. You'll have to measure your calf, but most boots usually accommodate up to a 14" calf circumference. Of course, you will need to account for jeans/leggings etc.

5 years ago at 10 and 12 I couldn't get my girls to wear rubber boots in the pouring rain. Now Hunter's are all the rage as a fashion statement and the girls wear them even on dry days...😜 They both wear their regular size in these boots.

I just bought a pair and I'm in love. I went with the children's original in red and they're the perfect height on me. (4'11") I ordered adult originals and the 16" boots went over my knee. Too bad, too, because I really loved the hunter green they came in. I wear a 6 - 6.5 in women's shoes and ordered a big kid's size 4. They have these reflectors in the back that I don't love, but these boots were also half the price of adult hunters, so I guess it's a trade off.

I've lived in drought-land for years now, but back when we used to get rain, I remember being really disappointed in my rainboots. They fit over my pants but they were wide at the top and water poured down my leg into my boot.

I always size up for Wellies so I can wear thick socks I tuck my jeans into the socks so slide nicely in to boots and the pant legs don't bunch

But I don't want the taller shaft. It just makes me look shorter. I prefer the shorter shaft, and they don't look short when your legs are already short. LOL!

Read the reviews. I have Chanel tall rain boots and they have have laces up the back. It only allows a little room but I make sure to wear tights, leggings, ponte pants or skinny jeans if I wear them.m

I've never had any, but there are some REALLY cute ones out there, and our rainy season starts in a couple of months. What is the rainy season you speak of? I live in a state with a desert climate. There are some really cute ones. I know the UK peas call the wellies! Something I learned here, maybe edit your title? ETA: Should have read the responses.
