is when you cut open the bag and the turkey is spoiled. Luckily Raley's was still open so I went down with the tag and the butcher immediately gave me another turkey. 2 lbs heavier so dinner is going to be later than planned. Thank goodness it's just the three of us!

Oh yuck! I have a fresh turkey in my refrigerator that I will be marinating tomorrow and cooking on Saturday. I just picked it up from Costco, so it had better be good or I will be very upset. I guess they will be open by the time I open it up tomorrow though. Its a good thing they were open and could give you a replacement bird!
I planned to do mine yesterday, but my marinade recipe calls for Spike and I went to 4 stores looking for it. I was surprised that none of the stores had it. I ended up ordering it off Amazon and it will be here tomorrow. I typically marinade it overnight, so my turkey will be eaten on Saturday. I guess it is a good thing that I didn't have any plans for inviting people over for today.

That totally stinks!! Glad you were able to get another fresh one. DH and I went to Kroger earlier this afternoon. They had their fresh turkeys marked down to .89 cents a pound. DH is a turkey junkie, just like the Dad on Christmas Story. I told DH there was no way I would buy a marked down fresh turkey. No telling how many times it may have been frozen and thawed or how long it had sat in the open refrigerated case. We did buy another frozen turkey to fix next Monday. Hubby would eat turkey once week if I would fix him one. And one of my SIL's is crazy about turkey as well.

Yikes. Sounds like a good man helped you. Glad it worked out. If you were turkey gate woman this thread would have been epic fun.

Ick, rotten poultry smell is revolting! Glad it worked out in the end! If that happened to me I'd be heading out for a Christmas story style meal, lol

Several people have asked me what we did with the foul fowl. Wrapped it in a big garbage bag and froze it in our garage freezer. We'll put it in the garbage can late Sunday for Monday pickup.
