I love my hallmark ornaments, I have almost three trees worth. However, I'm growing tired of reboxing them every year. How do you store your ornaments? Some are heavier and odd sizes. I was thinking this for the regular sized ones: m.bedbathandbeyond.com/m/product/64-count-ornament-storage-cube-in-red/1045396700?categoryId=12806#infoThen getting an adjustable tray one for the ones that are too long or big. I would keep the boxes in a storage tub just in case I ever want to put them back (or my kids decide to sell them one day. Lol.)

I have this problem too. But every year, I box those suckers back up. My X-Mas ornaments are the ONE part of my life that are organized. LOL
As much as I hate it and it is a PITA, I will keep boxing them back up ... Because, I wouldn't be happy about it if I didn't. LOL

I keep the outside boxes but throw away the inside packing. I just wrap mine in bubble wrap and put them inside their boxes.

We tossed the boxes a few years ago and use plastic ornament totes from.Lowe's. They have cardboard dividers. We use so mush less space for ornament storage now.

I keep mine in their original box. I like to see the boxes as they have changed over the years. I guess I like the tradition of opening each one up and looking at it.. yep weird.
I 'usually' don't buy Hallmark ones every year, unless they are on clearance OR if it is one I happen to see and I fall in love.. otherwise, whatever I find cheap after Christmas and that I like. Sometimes I have found them at garage sales for next to nothing! I buy those as well.

I too was a religious "wrap them back up and put them back in their original box" personal for years. And a year or two ago, I cried uncle and got this(it's by Iris): I really like it. I have a lot of non-Hallmark ornaments too, and with those I can usually fit a few ornaments in one compartment. However, I do still have the original (now empty) boxes in a tote in the basement. I'm trying to convince myself to get rid of them. If I get by a bus tomorrow, there's really no one in my life who is going to sell my ornaments for top dollar anyway, so there's probably no need to keep the boxes. We'll see if this is the year I say goodbye.

I keep and use the boxes. Most have a handwritten note on them from me or dh along with a too/from and the year. I find I don't buy as many lately though. Probably because we no longer have a local store. I do get dh a football player ornament each year. He has a tree in the family room devoted to football.

I have collected Hallmark ornaments for 36 years - I got rid of the boxes about 3 years ago. Many were falling apart and it cut my storage down by 1 huge tote. I bought cardboard drawer storage unit from Amazon and was very happy with it. I have been collecting Shiny Brites for the past several years and I like being able to see drawers full.

I put them back in the boxes. I have a couple friends that buy them for my DD and me, plus I buy some too. Eventually DD will get the ones that are for her and having the boxes will be nice then. Plus once I'm gone or need to downsize, she'll get all of mine too. At that point, she can decide if she wants to keep the boxes or not. I have a ton of storage space in this house, so saving the boxes isn't an issue for me.
I have a lot of other miscellaneous ornaments too, and those get wrapped up in acid free tissue paper and they go in Christmas themed photo boxes. The advantage there is that once I put the ornaments on the tree, I put the lids on the empty boxes and stack them up behind the tree against the wall. They look like presents and I don't have to drag the boxes up and down the stairs multiple times.

I have all the original boxes in a big container, but I got so tired of reboxing them that I finally got some fairly shallow (maybe 2.5" deep) Sterilite boxes that I put ornaments in then add padding. I stack those together inside big storage boxes and very carefully move them in and out of the garage each Christmas. We haven't broke any, and it is much quicker to pack and unpack.

LOL As much as I hate it and it is a PITA, I will keep boxing them back up ... Because, I wouldn't be happy about it if I didn't. LOL I keep every ornament I own in its own bag or box. So I'm the wrong one to ask about alternate storage. I feel the same way as styxgirl in that I wouldn't be happy otherwise even though it's a pain to put them away. One of my earliest Christmas memories was unwrapping and opening all of my own ornaments. They were either in boxes without photos or in bags, but wrapped in tissue, so opening each one was like a little surprise. Nowadays, I know what's inside ahead of time, but I still love the opening and unwrapping process. Plus, I like marking the bag or box with who gave it to me and when or where/when I bought it, so keeping them in their own little wrapping helps with that. DH says I am a huge freak in this regard, but hey, he married me, so it mustn't be too bad, right? Now, if I wasn't a freak, I would say that keeping them in a separated container like that and then hanging onto the boxes elsewhere does sound like a really logical solution. And, as a bonus, that box is pretty cute. Save

Put them back in in their boxes , but wrap in tissue, not that horrid plastic inset. I am not buying much more, except for the Star Trek one.
Why?
We were on vacation and caught a local newscast. Then were showing an estate of a woman who bought every collectable there was. She spent thousands upon thousands on this stuff. A 2 bedroom apt and it was crammed full.
They were selling it for $2,3,4 dollars. Her adult child children were in tears. I don't want my kids to feel that way.

I was never a "boxer". I have 2 large plastic boxes (the ones that can slide under your bed) and one large square plastic box that I use for the larger ornaments. If there glass or ceramic I wrap in a little bubble wrap. The Hallmarks or hallmark-like ornaments just go in the plastic box. In all my years, I've never had any breakage. But I should mention the boxes are stored in a safe location in my garage and I have no kids. LOL ! I do have two 4-legged children (Labs) that have done some damage with those wagging tails once the tree is up ! Just finished decorating my tree a little while ago. All set for Santa !
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL !
