My teen DS (13) wants a bean bag chair for Christmas, but none of the ones I've seen online look very durable. Do any of you have a recommendation for brands you've had good experience with that will hold up for a reasonable amount of time before it flattens or rips? Thank you!

I can't recommend a brand but wanted to contribute that the Pottery Barn Kids/Teens bags we had a few years ago did NOT hold up well.

This is the kind I would personally want. The bigger, the better. Cordaroys
ETA: If I didn't have dogs that would sit on it at EVERY opportunity, I would have one of these in my studio for watching tv.

My dd's (11) from pottery barn kids has been great for 3 years so far and is still going strong. The cover is even still in great condition. I just bought dd (8) one for her birthday yesterday and she's in love with it. I anticipate it will last the same.
I'm sorry to hear the PP had a bad experience with pottery barn. Mine has been great. For a 13 yr old I'd maybe get one from PB teen because their size is a bit larger than PB kids.

We have a regular size beanbag and several little bean bag seats from Land of Nod. They are holding up very well and the zippers LOCK! Maybe not an issue with older kids, but with littles it is awesome. They have a site wide 20% sale right now too

We had one from Cordaroys.
They were made by University of Florida students and were on Shark Tank maybe about ten years ago.
We got a king sized one for our kids when they were about 10 and they loved it. It was sturdy and they would take a running jump and "crash" into it but it was very padded, etc that they never got hurt. Then our big golden retriever discovered it and loved to lay in it.
We got rid of it when the kids outgrew it and I could put "real" furniture in the room again.
But it was very sturdy and good for what we wanted it for.

Love sac. Spendy but oh soo amazing! Ooh, those do look amazing! But, sadly, way out of my price range. Boy, he would love it, though!

DS has had a Cozy Sack in his room for about 3 years now. It's holding up great and he uses it for a couple of hours each day. He had 3 other traditional bean bag chairs before we got this one. It was a Chisas present I bought from Amazon. It has foam pieces inside that never go flat and when you puff it up, it's like new. The removable, washable microfiber cover is a huge bonus in a boy's room. I would rate this as one of my top purchases.

Do you sew? I make bean bags from upholstery fabric and they're super durable! I make a liner from an old sheet or cheap material and then make the bag from upholstery or denim or corduroy, the zippers have a little flap across themthat velcros down to keep it closed. Fill it with beans from bed bath and beyond. Order the beans in store and they'll ship to your house for free and you can use coupons!
