Do you think that your genetic(cultural) makeup have a small influence on what style of food you like to eat?
I love love love middle eastern/ Indian food. I have ancestors from those areas.
So does you food loves match your ancestry?

Interesting question. I love ALL food, particularly Asian and Middle Eastern, but my ancestry is mainly English.
My BFF is Croatian and she pretty much only eats Mediterranean food and will NOT eat Indian, Asian etc etc. But I think that's more about being a fussy eater.

Nope! I could live on Mexican and Italian (well can't have Italian anymore due to gluten intolerance :/) and I'm pretty sure I'm exclusively German/English. If my DNA kit comes back with different results though imma bump this thread!!

My family is as white as they come and I'm the lone exotic born outside of England. However, I love food of all ethnicities and cultures. Some of my favourites are Cambodian and Nigerian. So in my experience food preferences aren't genetic.

I doubt it. I am mostly Swiss/German. I cannot stand sauerkraut! I'm also a lifelong Southerner and cannot stand iced tea and grits. Conversely, not a drop of Italian and I could live on Italian food. Go figure.

No. I'm mainly Irish, some Scottish and German, and I don't care for those traditional cuisines. If you guessed my ethnicity by what I like to eat, you'd guess part Italian and part Mexican, with a bit of Chinese and a touch of some type of Mediterranean culture. All stuffed into a sturdy little Iowan.

No, my food preferences are a carry over of early family eating habits. Food is love to a degree. Any ancestral relevance could be chalked up to early childhood subconscious memories of those spices or foods.

My heritage is British and I grew up eating meat & boiled vegetables for dinner every night. My dad's idea of exotic was Heinz canned spaghetti. I babysat for an Italian family and discovered what spaghetti is supposed to taste like and was introduced to delights like focaccia bread and lasagne and that was the start of my foodie adventures.
If I only had to pick one cuisine to live on for the rest of my life it would probably be Thai. Or maybe Greek. But I need sushi at least once a month.
In the last few years I have gone back to many of the meals my mom used to make, finding update recipes from Jamie Oliver and other British chefs, and really enjoy them.

Probably not. My husband and I are both of European descent. We love food from Asia, Mexico and India. Our kids eat more rice than anything else, they even make homemade onigiri to bring to school. They would eat sushi at every meal if they could. bc2ca if you are ever in the Northridge area try Lum Ka Naad. It has all sorts of Thai dishes I have never eaten before. Every time I go there I try something new.

I'd have to say no. My ancestors came from Europe I think, then traveled west in a covered wagon to settle in Texas. I'm a Texan through and through and I love Tex Mex food...
But I have no Hispanic genes.

I don't think so. My ancestry is mostly European Jewish and I love Thai and other Asian foods.

No, I love all food and am 96% Asian and 4% Polynesian which is probably just Asian. Someone above mentioned sauerkraut, I love that stuff! I eat it on pizza I love it so much. Some Chinese foods that I grew up with I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, chicken feet anyone?
