scrapaddicts702- Wow! Your post really resonated with me. I am the same way and I didn't realize that until I read your post.
A lot of times when I see designer brand embellishments I am thinking I am not paying $6.00 for that- it looks cheap, I can make it or too many fillers. I will look over at Paper Studio and see the pineapple brads on sale for $2.00 I will snag it up and take it home. I have my trend to play with and didn't spend a lot of money.
I still wish the stores did carry some major scrap lines. I wanted the Tim Holtz mini-stapler. None of my stores had it. I had to order it online. I want a Scan n Cut but I want to see it in person first. None of my stores have it. I guess my thing is I want to see my tools before I buy them. I do want to see embellishments before I buy them. I have purchased some expensive embellishments online and the quality was horrible and I could have gotten nicer things off Pinterest and printed them out. Some scrap lines do have nice things. It is getting harder to find at big box stores.

Dear JoAnn, Michael's, and Hobby Lobby, Stop with your stupid store brands. I don't want knockoff scrapbook supplies. I want the real stuff! If these stores would carry more American Crafts, WRMK, and other actual brands, I'd shop in the stores. They don't even have to carry every part of every collection. I'd be happy to see the kits. I don't even bother going in these 3 stores. Yes! Support actual designers.

I guess I'm in the minority. I've found that the store brands were generally outdated but over the past few years, they've really started to do well. And I don't notice a difference in quality, at all, with most things they carry. American Crafts quality has gone down the crapper as of late and at their warehouse sale location in Utah, many things there are Recollections, so I'm fairly confident that they are in cahoots with the manufacturing. Not just with AC, either. They had some MME paper pads that were actually Teresa Collins releases a few years ago and Recollections branded calendar kits that were all MME release influences (each month had elements from a specific MME line). I saw this topic when it was originally posted and decided to ruminate on it for a few days before answering. What you wrote really resonates with me. I have also noticed over the last 1-2 years that many of the store brand products have become much more trendy and up-to-date. I frequent HL the most of all the big-box stores, and IMO they really have stepped it up in the scrapbooking department. Cute washi tape designs and flower embellishments that look just as good as, or sometimes better than, Prima are a couple of examples that come to mind. I enjoy seeing new lines in the stores as much as the next scrapper, but I certainly have purchased some name-brand embellishments, paper, etc. in the past that if not lower quality, was certainly no better quality than a store brand. Most of all though, I think lower-priced store brands can be a good way for those who are on a budget to still be able to get into scrapbooking. As we all know, this can be an expensive hobby! Bringing more people into the scrapbooking circle is never a bad thing! Save

I'm okay with the store brands except I usually prefer the design of manufacturers pattern papers.

I'm okay with the store brands except I usually prefer the design of manufacturers pattern papers. The printing on name brand Paper seems better quality too. I can find a lot of Paper Studios (Hobby Lobby) embellishments I like, but their Paper lacks the punch of major brands. I usually have a solid cardstock base, so the paper weight doesn't bother me like it did in the past. But the lack of design, or crisp printing still does.
