They just took her back for surgery. Doing laser lithotripsy and possibly a stent. I hate that she has to go through surgery, but I'm glad something is finally happening and this multi-week ordeal should be over soon.

Last year at this time I was having kidney stone removal surgery...she will feel SO much better. Although do be prepared for wine-colored urine and some residual spasms/pain for a few days. No one told me that might happen and it scared me. Best wishes to you and your daughter!

ooh; hugs to you and good thoughts for a smooth and easy surgery and recovery for her!!
I've never had a kidney stone, but I've heard they can be excruciatingly painful, so I'm glad it's finally getting taken care of.

Poor kid - hugs to both of you! Kidney stones SUCK, so hopefully they can tell her what it seems to have been caused by to avoid a repeat performance!

I hear kidney stones are right up there on the pain scale with childbirth. She will feel a world of relief if that's the case!

The first day the pain started it was like black tar and that really freaked us out.

Does this mean you cancelled the Paris trip? She stayed home with DH and I went with my other two daughters. She could not have handled the flight with the pain.

She's out of surgery. She'll have to have a stent for a while, but otherwise ok, and she can go back to school next week for her finals.
I really like this doc. It took us so long to make progress, and we've finally found a no-nonsense doc who is getting stuff done.

Glad to hear everything is good & the surgery went well. My daughter is suffering from stones as I type this. She's been dealing w/ bladder/kidney infection after bladder/kidney infection & they found multiple stones in her kidneys. They put her on antibiotics, the infection clears up. Another infection sets in, more antibiotics, rinse, repeat. So frustrating. Her Dr. informed her last week if the infection comes back after this round of antibiotics, they will send her to an internist. She's really tired of everything. It's hard to watch her so sick. This has been going on for 3 months now. (She's 22)

My DD's urologist insisted that she see a nephrologist as soon as possible to find out why she is making stones and to rule out any kind of kidney disease. That is the first time anyone has mentioned anything about a nephrologist to us, and I'm so glad that we've finally found a doctor who is proactive.

So glad to read this update! Prayers for a smooth recovery (and lots of thanks for a wonderful doctor).
In the camp of Kidney Stones SUCK and they are worse than childbirth! I've had over 20 pass with and without surgery. I currently have 3 sitting in my right one just waiting to hurt me. I've had all the test and follow all the orders, but I'm just destined to produce them.

My FIL has had a ton, too, and DH has had a few, and they haven't found a way to stop theirs either. I really hope they can figure something out for DD. We know there's one more on her right side, but it is smaller.
