This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Happy December 1 Pokey's
Darling layout Nylene - I love the colors and the thematic embellishments. Couldn't leave love on the Flikr page because I don't have my password here at work. Enjoy the snow, and send some my way I need some of that lovely winter white stuff.
Talk to you all later.

Thanks for the new thread Nylene! Sorry to hear about the snow Nylene! We had almost 60 here yesterday, but 39 today. Love your page and left you some love! Not much going on here. I am trying to get my house ready for Christmas but it is going slow. Tree is up but not decorated. I was setting up my CD player and stereo system and speakers today. I love listening to my Christmas music so the stereo need to be out in the main part of the house. I want to start doing some baking also. grammadee- hope you enjoy your time with the boys! I know you will. And be careful on the trip to and from. I am getting ready to send out my cards also! Kelly- glad your dinner came out well. It sounded yummy! How about LeBron and Barrett both being recognized this week. Lisa-sure hope you stay nice & warm over the winter and hopefully won't need the fireplace. Alright going to get off as I am going to rest my eyes a few minutes as I have been up since 4 this morning.

Hi, maribeth! I wish I could send some of our snow. I just dread going out in it to get to school tomorrow. Brrr! scrapincin, thank you for your sweet comments on my layout. Lots of info and not much decoration, but I like layouts with journaling. I like getting the stories on paper. Good luck with the rest of the decorating. I will start soon...maybe! grammadee, I hope you get through without the problem of a snow storm. Enjoys the boys! See you all later.

Well my weekend is going no where near how I planned it. Slipped on some ice in the parking lot heading into toys r us yesterday, fell backwards, landed on my elbow, and broke my humorus just below the shoulder.
The dgk's I was caring for were not with me when I fell. By the time my other son had arrived at emerge, alternate arrangements had been made for them. I am now at that sons home in a sling. Hoping a couple days rest will get me off Percocet so I can drive home Monday.
So...
I did NOT get my shopping done
I am NOT spending time with those little guys. Although there are a couple of little ones here as well
And my ds called to say they are making alternate arrangements for their childcare in Abbotsford next week, so it probably means I WONT be going there either.
Forgive me for having a bit of a pity party.

Sweet grammadee, you have all the pity party you want. I am so sorry to hear of your fall. That is my biggest fear. Are you in a cast as well as a sling? I'm sorry you are not getting to do all the fun things with your grandchildren. This is the same time of year I fell and broke my wrist a few years ago. It really throws a wrench in the works, doesn't it. Sending you hugs and prayers for a quick recovery!

Wow grammadee so sorry to hear about your fall. It takes time to heal that bone too! Just glad they had a back-up plan for the kids I got my front porch decorated with the garland and lights. Next is the tree then whatever else I feel like doing lol I made biscotti today and it turned out really hood. I just was craving it to dunk in my coffee. It is chocolate chip and pecan. nylene-I am sure the girls would love coming over and helping you with the decorating! Not much else to talk about so will be back later!

Good news! this evening when I took off my shoes and socks-regular socks not compression stockings I saw both of my ankles! No swelling the bones on both sides! And I had been on my feet most of the day! Who would have ever thought one pill could cause all that!

Happy Friday and December! Thanks Nylene for keeping us going. I am looking forward to out city's Christmas parade on Sunday and the tree lighting on Monday evening. I hope to get some better pics this year too. grammadee- Oh what a bummer! I am glad you got your cards and baking done already so you don't have to worry about that. I really hope you feel better and heal well. Hopefully, your fam will spoil you and help you out. Hang in there! scrapincin- Congrats to ya! That is great news about your legs. I know you will enjoy the holidays even more now. That biscotti sounds yummy! Enjoy and keep that happy Christmas music pumping. Oh yeah, Lebron is awesome and glad to hear he won the sportsperson of the year award with Sports Illustrated. nylene- Hope you keep warm with all that snow. I wish I could send you some warm weather but it has been chilly out here too. Waving hello to all you gals and have a nice evening!

scrapincin, I am thrilled about your ankles and legs. Wow, to think you put up with that swelling for so long. Hooray for meds that work! It sounds like you have pretty much done the big things for decorating. Lyssie told me today that she and her best friend would love to come help me. Ash has bad knees (like her mom and grandma) so running up and down stairs is not in her immediate future. She is having them injected. kellyr21, your Christmas Parade and tree lighting sounds nice. They are having a tree lighting here tonight, but it's just too cold for me to stand around in the snow. Get some photos and make us all jealous! I need to get my laundry done tonight because tomorrow is going to be a big day so I won't get it done then. DH is in charge of cleaning the church each week. We have about 20 volunteers come each week and he makes assignments, but it seems we always stay to finish the last little tasks. It takes about an hour and a half. Steve is in charge for 2 months and then the other Ward who meets in our building does it for 2 months. My fridge and cupboards are bare after Thanksgiving and Cousin Camp and I was too tired to shop last Sat, so I have that to do too. Then I have a Bridal Shower in the afternoon and sometime I hope to slick my house back into shape. I still have Cousin crafts scattered around. Then I can THINK about decorating! Have a great weekend, my friends. I may not get back on until Monday.

Sounds like everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit. That Christmas parade sounds fun, kellyr21 . Glad you are getting some help with decorating, nylene . I am soo glad we got the tree up last week. And scrapincin, that is awesome about your legs! I am still pretty sore, and have a bruise the size of China on my upper arm. Getting random spasms in my arm that are not fun. Everything I try to do takes forever, but I managed to address and sign all my Christmas cards, and fold the letters that go into them. May need help with stuffing envelopes, but I may figure that out later after my nap. The good news is I got to take a long hot shower today. It felt AMAZING, and when the sling came off, I was able to lower my arm into a vertical position along my side which I definitely could NOT do on Thursday before the sling went on

Oh grammadee- so glad to hear you are accomplishing a few things. Just don't push the envelope and increase the pain but it sounds like you are working with not against it. I am sure glad you got all that baking done before this happened. I got my tree up and decorated today. But the rest of this place looks like a bomb went off-I still have bins laying here with stuff in them. But I will get there. I am tired so I am going to work on my cards tonight. Bob went to his farm for a couple days so I have the house to myself for the weekend. Waving a big HI to everyone. LisaDV hope all is going well for you and your family!

grammadee I'm so sad that all your plans got upset. I will talk to you soon. nylene I love your page. Those trees are so cute. It sounds like you had a busy weekend. scrapincin I'm glad your legs are better and you are getting so much decorating done! kellyr21 I hope you had a great time at the parade and got some great pictures. DH and I headed to a city a couple of hours away for a meeting I had for our provincial adult education association. It was done by 2 so we had time to hit the craft fair and then head to my brother's for supper and a visit before heading home. Today, I scrapped a couple of pages, did some laundry, wrote our yearly Christmas letter, and made 2 batches of peanut brittle. My pages are for the Your December Story class from Get It Scrapped.

justjac, your pages are wonderful. I love the comments about grammadee, she's an enabler, isn't she? Love the page about peanut brittle. I have only tried that once and mine were not at all brittle. More like taffy. No one was impressed!! LOL grammadee, my dear friend around the corner has been recuperating from her 2nd hip replacement and fell on Friday and broke her wrist. I thought of you. I am praying that both of you recuperate quickly. You are both such sweet women. I hope each day feels a little better. I am finally getting all the crafts put away, but I went to wash my hands to fix dinner yesterday and my kitchen sink handle broke off in my hand! DH bought a new faucet while I was at school this a.m. but couldn't figure out how to get the old fixture out. He doesn't have good sight in the darkness and even with a light it was too dark under the sink. He finally phoned a friend with good eyes who came and helped him fix it. So I have a new faucet! Now I have some clean up to do around the kitchen. I forgot how crazy it is without a kitchen sink. Well, off to get something done around here. I need to get started on addressing my Christmas cards tonight.

That would be tough for your neighbour, nylene, recovering from surgery AND a fracture! Glad you got your craft disorder under control and your sink fixed. would have been awful if you had to go longer than a day. We have a list of fixes for a plumber here, but I guess they don't add up to enough for anyone to come out here to do them a couple have promised but no one has shown up. just a note about justjac: it is HER fault I am a scrapbooker! so I guess we are co-dependents! And, her famous peanut brittle is delicious!

What is the prognosis? maribeth , is your decorating finished? scrapincin , thank you for your kind words about my layout. I wish I had my tree up. So are you pretty much ready for Christmas? LisaDV , how are your Christmas plans going? Here's my latest layout. It may be the last I get done before Christmas. Official Cookie Taster by Nylene Budge, on Flickr

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a nice weekend and day. It has finally gotten cold around here. We put the heater on for the first time last night and it got toasty in here. I actually worked on Christmas cards today! I hope to get more done this week. Also, I need to make some tags to go along with 20 or so little bags for Ron's coworkers. Last year, we got some small clear bags with various candies and wrapped them with curling ribbon and a tag. They came out so cute and we plan to do the same this year. I did make it to our Christmas parade and the city's tree lighting events. We had a good time and those kids from the area had a ball. Last night they had a little fake snow hill for the kids to slide down. Since we don't get snow here, this was an exciting activity for them. LOL! Again, I didn't get any good pictures but the memories are in my mind for years to come. LOL! grammadee- Sending you some warm wishes and hope you are feeling better. scrapincin- Ohio St. made it to the final four and my USC is going to the Rose Bowl. Should be some good games. Did we miss your birthday? I hope we didn't. nylene- You and your husband are wonderful! All the care you do for your church is so nice. Good to see you got a new sink fixture. Waving hello to justjac, Maribeth, Jana!

Hi Everyone! No nylene I am far from being ready. I have only purchased one gift, and still need to bake and make candy. I am just addressing my cards this evening. All that is done is the tree is decorated as the railings on the porch. Other then that nothing is done. We have programs two nights this week-Maggie has a solo, and Bobby has a speaking part in his. Bobby's must be something special as they have had after school rehearsals twice a week for a month. They have an after party on Friday! His group also will be singing the National Anthem at the Akron Rubber Ducks baseball game in April. It is a training team of the Cleveland Indians. I do have most of what I need to bake and make candy in the house so I can make something when ever I feel like it. Commenting on your cards and layouts is easy! You do such a great job! Everyone here does great work and stir the creation pot! I see I have a couple more to do now that I am over here~! Well getting off for now as I am getting sleepy. See you later! BTW that cake was super and would have been perfect for me! No Kelly you have not missed my birthday! I will be 69 on December 22! I am still learning new things and enjoying my life and hope it continues! I just wish my body would keep up! I am tired of all this health stuff!

Love your page nylene! Will leave a comment in the gallery. Your Christmas house will come together: you just came out of a busy November! Glad you are doing Christmassy stuff, kellyr21. Bet your cards are pretty special would love to see some. Sounds like you are right on track with holiday prep, scrapincin My mother used to make candy for everyone at Christmas What kind do you make? saw the local dr today for a follow up he didn't look at the arm, just read the radiologist's report, and said to keep it in the sling full time foe the "next couple of weeks", then start taking it out gradually more and more to exercise the joints with motion but no stress. When my own dr gets back, I am going to ask if he can do a follow up xray before we go to VC in janary, so my ddil the physiotherapist can look at the pics and give me some exercises Right now I am supposed to sit back and take it easy... I have a housecleaner booked to come in next Monday. Dh picked up some gc's for me today, and justjac will be running around town doing some personal shopping for me this week My niece's girls plan to come and help me wrap gifts the weekend of the 17th... Lots of elves doing their parts... Got about 1/3 of my cards stuffed in the envelopes with the letter today, and they were dropped off at the post office and on their way today. Picked up stamps while at the PO, so can stamp the cards I get into envelopes tomorrow or later, so dh can just drop them off at the PO. Guess I should have started a DD for this year: this will definitely be a holiday season I remember!

almost eight full days and I still can't say DONE - but it is close very very close. However I have lost my box of snowflakes, I had them at the beginning, but I can not find it anywhere - I have to go on a search and destroy mission tonight when I get home from work. nylene - Love your Cookie page, it is just too adorable. Did you use the silhouette to make the brick-like background. You or scrapincin still need to video tape one of your cuts as the Silhouette is cutting so I can compare it to my Pazzles. Also, what brand of cardstock do you usually use?

maribeth , maybe your snowflakes are hiding with my Wedding Cards I had yesterday and are missing today! As far as cutting with the Silhouette, I use whatever paper I have. I really like the AC cardstock because it cuts so well. Bazzill leaves more little tab-like things along some cuts. I have to ratchet the blade to a higher number for it. Most of my cardstock is from Pebbles in my Pocket when Angie worked there in High School. I don't have any way to film the cutting. I don't have a Smart phone. I could never figure it out on the ipad. I'll look for a site that shows some actual cutting. scrapincin, your month sounds like mine! We have a Choral Festival for Kayla tonight, an Orchestra concert with Ash and Lys tomorrow, and an Orchestra concert for Kylie next week, plus tickets to an annual musical Christmas production we try to attend each year with Emily next Friday. In between we both have dental and dermatology appts and our neighbors have invited us Sunday night to come view their Hispanic nativity. It takes every inch of their living room. I don't know when I ever had time to work. This retirement gets busier every year. LOL I have started the decorating!! I cleared out everything in front of the Christmas decorations so DH can carry things upstairs. The girls will probably not come 'til Sat to carry up the individual Village boxes, but I can get the tables all ready for that. grammadee , I can't believe the doctor didn't actually look at your arm. I hope your DDIL will be able to help you with rehabilitation. Be careful with it. You are in my prayers. Gotta run. Have a great day.

Hi all you Pokeys! Hope everyone is doing well! I made it to both programs and so enjoyed them. Bobby's was especially delightful. That teacher put a lot of work into that program. All the songs were teaching them about various holidays besides Christmas as they sang about Hanukah, Kwanzaa, and La Fiesta. They sang and danced and even had a mini play all in one program! I made 4# of peppermint bark today and Maggie and I made these yummy no cook peanut butter bars. I may try fudge one more time as mine never turns out. I got the sweetened milk at the store so we shall see. I actually got a couple gifts yesterday! So I will get there. We are getting snow tonight and the next couple of days.It is not bad here but north of us had a 50 plus car pile up in the highway, and earlier today they closed part of I-90 as 6 semi's jack-knifed up there. grammadee- I sure hope you are getting along ok. A friend of mine broke that same bone and I know w=she had a very hard time. Well waving a big hi to everyone but I am tired and the ole brain just doesn't want to work!

I would love to see photos of your decorated homes, Ladies. mine is the most bare it has been in years so glad we have the tree up! Got the rest of the cards in the mail today, and a couple of gifts delivered. Dh & I attended his Seniors' club dinner this evening, I managed to get our exchange gifts into gift bags for that. Tonight I am hurting, so off to crawl into bed...

Good evening Peas! Hope everyone had a great Friday and start to their weekend. I worked on my cards today and have all but 2 ready to go in the mail. Then I made these cookies from a new recipes but I am real happy with them. Also my younger brother and his daughter came by for a short visit today. It just broke my heart. My niece has Huntington's and it is so hard to watch her go downhill. She was barely able to walk today as she has such tremors. We gave her a walker we had to hold onto and walk with which seemed to help a little. She was so afraid she was going to fall. So sad for a young woman in her 30's to have to go thru this. Not sure what I will do tomorrow. grammadee I will get some pics of my decorations this weekend for you. I sure hope your arm heals quickly and so sorry you are having to go thru all the pain. Prayers for you friend! not much else to talk about this evening so will be off-and bbl!

Good Sunday morning, everyone! How are you doing with all your Christmas prep & festivities? How are your cards coming along, kellyr21? Is your house ready for the season, maribeth? Would love some photos! And what about you, LisaDV, how is holiday prep going in your busy household? nylene and scrapincin, you make e wish our grandkids were closer, so we could take part in all their seasonal fun. Still feeling a little weepy about my lost opportunities for that this next week, as my flights to Abbotsford have been cancelled. The kids are good about posting pics, but definitely not the same as being there... We had a great visit with justjac and her dh last night. Gift exchange, supper, & a little gift wrapping help. All my parcels to mail are ready for the post office now. Today, dh & I have tickets to a Christmas dinner in town. Tomorrow, a lady is coming to clean house. Then a little later in the week, we will invite in a couple of neighbours for a gift exchange. Have a great day!
