I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to makeup and it seems way more complicated than it was 20 years ago when I wore makeup. I'm looking for some guidance. I bought some different powder foundations and finishing powder to try out recently from Lucy Minerals (based on Patter 's recommendation for rosacea skin). I have used them a few times in the last month and really like the coverage for my rosacea. My only complaint is I have large pores and they show through the foundation/finishing powder when I wear them. Is this something a primer would help me with? My company's holiday party is tonight and I want to wear makeup for it. I'm busy with homework today, so don't have time to go to Sephora and would prefer just a quick trip to the drugstore. Any drugstore suggestions for oily skin to help conceal large pores? Thank you!

Primers definitely help blur imperfections like large pores and age spots. I'll be watching this thread. I don't have a recommendation - I have a stay-away-from: L'Oreal Magic Perfecting BaseIt is sooooo thick, dry and hard to spread I actually wonder if there is something wrong with my jar.

Monistat anti-chaffing gel. Exact same ingredients as makeup brand primers. I heard about it at 2 peas.
ETA: Did a quick search and it looks like it's at Walgreens. I've had a hard time finding it at WM.

I've had a hard time finding it at WM. This is what I use. It can be found at WM but it has changed label looks. It is in the personal hygiene/condom area I believe. I just love buying face product in that section.

Yes, you definitely need the primer with Lucy Minerals. I don't go without it with anything. Get the Monistat. Works AMAZING!

Yes on the monostat. LOL Also, Elf has some good primer/concealers. Those are at Walmart and Target (maybe other places...I'm not sure).

e.l.f. primers costs $6 at Target, Walmart, drugstores, BB&B, etc. If specifically concerned with large pores, you may chose the Poreless primer www.elfcosmetics.com/p/poreless-face-primer?Dept=face-faceprimer. HTH If you're looking to sample other foundations: I have combination skin with rosacea & exclusively wore MAC foundations for a couple decades. Forgetting to pack my makeup pouch for vacation last year, I discovered L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte, a dupe of MAC Studio Sculpt that offers better color match, coverage, & longevity for me. It's gel-based, lightweight, covers rosacea, evens my skintone, doesn't cling to dry patches/lines or disappear, never needs touch-up, & costs $11-12 at the same retailers listed above.

I can tell you that Bare Minerals makes a neutralizing primer that is nice. But it runs about $25. I would try the Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel. I have oily skin and large pores. It helps to diminish this look. Now they did change the formula and packaging, but it can usually be found on the feminine care aisle.

I love Benefit's POREfessional on my T-Zone and Hourglass Mineral Primer everywhere else. Oh! And Becca Ever Matte Poreless Primer!
Oddly enough, Milk of Magnesia is also fabulous for an oily T-Zone. The liquid MOM of course and a very thin layer applied with cotton ball. Helps tremendously with oil and pores disappear! But I only use that for special makeup, not everyday bc it can mess with your normal pH balance if you over use it.
I tried Monistat anti chafing but with my super oily skin it slid right off and didn't adhere my makeup well at all. I looked a hot mess. I wanted it to work, but it just didn't!

I have used POREfessional by Benefit and liked it. I usually get Smashbox though. I stock up when I find it on sale.

The only wine I have found that does anything for my pores is POREfessional by Benefit.
The monistat, elf, etc. did nothing to help with that for me.
