What about something like Satin Hands from Mary Kay? They have scented versions but they also have an unscented version. I just ordered the mini version for a $10 gift exchange. The mary kay you're speaking of is Fragrance Free, so there is no added fragrance. But it is not unscented-- it does have a very distinct smell to it. @c3po, for admin prof day the last few years, we've given ours amazon gift cards. Some years we all take them out to lunch, but that's a hassle because of the number of people whose schedules we need to coordinate. Prior to that, we had tried to tailor the cards a little more, but that was hard when some will share more about themselves than others. But the amazon cards seemed to be a winner all the way around.

cash or a visa gift card sounds good to me, easy to find and easy to spend. Appreciated by all.

I apologize for posting and running. Thank you all for the input. You've confirmed what I thought, that gift cards or cash is the way to go! I am at odds with a coworker over this. She doesn't like gift cards because she thinks they too often go unused. I personally love gift cards, especially since we are gifting a diverse group of recipients. However the gift is coming from both of us (plus a few others) so I am trying to respect her wishes.
I thought it was interesting how many people said time off would go a long way. Our company started doing that a few years ago - we have a corporate holiday luncheon (we are talking 800+ employees) and then everyone is dismissed for the afternoon unless they need to return to the office for business reasons. This gift is a personal token from our department in addition to the corporate recognition.
Thanks again for the help - off to read through the replies again.

A gift card for a mani/pedi and an afternoon off to go. I can think of a lot of people who would NOT use the mani/pedi gift card. I agree with cash or a generic gift card, like for Amazon.
