Than the tiny Avon lipstick samples? 💄💋 I loved those little things!
My Sephora order came in the mail. There was a tiny lipstick sample and it took me back.

I loved those too! One of our neighbor women was an Avon lady and she would give the young girls in the neighborhood some of the lipstick samples. We thought we were so grown up! It was almost as good as when my mother put lipstick on me for Halloween. I made sure I was something that would require lipstick because I loved the smell of it, and the way the metal tube made a little clinking noises as she was putting it on me. I promised myself that when I grew up, I was going to have one of those and wear it every day, all day long!
*******As a small aside, does anyone else remember when cosmetics came in metal containers? By the time I was an adult and able to purchase, I don't remember there being any metal lipstick tubes anymore. I did have metal tubes for mascara. In fact, for whatever reason, I still have held on to two of the metal mascara tubes. One of them just had an end like a screw with small threads on it to hold the mascara, no brush at all. ******

Yessss!!! They were SO cute! Maybe that was the beginning of my addiction to lipstick! Ohhh, and that CUTE Sweet Honesty bear !!! ( I don't remember the lavendar one, though). So fun that you brought back a sweet memory of getting him for Christmas one year---! My older sister sold Avon, so we got lots of their nice products for holidays and birthdays. I need to add both of these to my " Nostalgia Board" on Pinterest!

My mom's Avon lady would tape a few lipstick samples onto the pages that they went with and would also add a few perfume samples too! I loved catalog delivery day!

Her school had a school carnival every year. One of the booths was a makeup booth and lady would give us little Avon lipsticks. Such a wonderful booth.

My friend's mom was an Avon lady, and my friend would always have a ton of these little samples. I always thought they were the coolest things.

I had the whole set in a little blue plastic case...and I loved those things so much that they were "too good" to use. Problem was I ended up basically never using them and finding them at the back of a cupboard somewhere 10 years later and throwing them out.
I do remember there being some particularly lurid shades of orange and pink though.

My mom used to give those to me when I was little then let me get all dressed up for a tea party with her. What a nice memory to start my day off.
Knowing how much I liked the lipsticks she would collect make up, hand cream, and perfume samples all year from department stores and give them to me for Christmas in tins she found at antique stores and flea markets.

Awww, what a great memory. I loved watching my mom putting on her make up. At 91 she still wears make up, sweet old lady type make up. I guess this is what gave me my love for make up and shoes!! Yes the shoes!

At 91 she still wears make up, sweet old lady type make up. I took my 91-year old mama and two of her friends on a cruise last year. We did the spa services several times. On mama's first visit, she had a facial and came out with some really pricey new cleanser she'd been suckered into buying. Her rationale? "I need to start taking better care of my skin." Y'all! At 91! We had a wonderful laugh over that experience!

Man did I love those things. The distinctive smell, all the pretty colors, like jewels just waiting for me. My mother had them under the front bathroom sink and I can remember reaching into the darkness and feeling for the container, pulling the lid off, and hearing the Hallelujah chorus in my little mind. There was something very playful yet soothing about opening and closing them and putting them back into their little slots. I would never wear any of those colors today... but, for a time, they were a window of possibilities that I just could not resist.
