I really wish I could get behind making some cinnamon or caramel rolls for Christmas morning, but holy carb-load, with DH needing to really restrict his carbs that's going to be a no-go for us. I bought the stuff to make a cherry almond braid with puff pastry and I might make that instead because it could theoretically be cut into smaller pieces. We'll probably also have some kind of eggs and bacon but no hash browns, no pancakes or waffles or juice or other carbs.

I let my DDs decide so it will either be overnight French toast, sausage and homemade hash browns or a make ahead sausage/scrambled eggs casserole with the hash browns. I will enjoy hot chocolate with a shot of Fireball (cinnamon whiskey) that tastes just like Chicken Bones - Canadian candy with a ribbon of chocolate surrounded by hard pink cinnamon candy. YUM!!
Love hearing what everyone else is having.

Baked Denver omelet Monkey bread Fresh fruit We have no pregnant or nursing mommies this year so maybe I'll add mimosas for DDs and me. I'd love a grit casserole recipe if you happen to have your aunt's, farmdpea ? Sorry it took me so long to respond! I've been in and out all day and my internet was down earlier. I don't have her recipes (she has made a few different kinds), but I'm fairly certain she has used this recipe from Paula Deen before. She has also made one with the jarred cheese that you get in the dairy section (not Cheez Whiz), but I haven't been able to find that recipe. One year she had Rotel tomatoes in it, and another time there was breakfast sausage. ETA: mommaho read me

We start out with a cup of freshly ground coffee and cookies or biscotti. Breakfast is a little later, but not really brunch. Tradition is French toast, lots of bacon and homemade hash browns. For the last couple of years, I've been making eggnog French toast to help use up what we have.

We do the same thing every year...
Breakfast Casserole(I make it the night before...usually putting it together at midnight after all the Christmas Eve festivities😊)
Fresh fruit platter
Sara Lee Coffee Cake..I know I should do something homemade. Maybe I will this year.
Coffee and mimosas
I love Christmas morning! We've done it the same way since my oldest was a baby and she's 23.

I've let our grown kids choose between a breakfast feast or a dinner feast this year. When I put on a breakfast feast, no one is really hungry later on for a dinner feast, and I don't feel like making it. So far, breakfast is winning out. Maybe I'll do a dinner feast on Christmas Eve. So many great ideas, thanks!

I am making baked french toast from a recipe I found on Pinterest a while ago. I made it when BFF came to stay with me. Normally we have smoked salmon, bagels and cream cheese. I am off smoked salmon right now and I don't feel like bagels and cream cheese this year so I am making that. The other two can have their smoked salmon if they want it.
We are going out for dinner on the 25th to a nice restaurant and don't want to pig out all day long like we do but our dinner sitting i think is at 7:30 pm. I will have to see what we need to eat during the day. Will we do presents in the PM or night after dinner? I don't know. Our gift exchange is different now with Mom gone. It is strange.

I love this thread!
Two of my kids were born on Christmas Day, so it's a busy day for all of us. They chose the breakfast and dinner when they were very young and we continue today. Breakfast casserole and overnight French toast. This past year, I cut the toast up into large bread chunks. DELICIOUS! I will continue that way. We don't eat again until the evening (fondue Bacchus), so we can relax a bit - hah, so everyone can relax while I make two birthday cakes we barely touch!

The recipes I've found for monkey bread look overcooked and over-caramelized. I've obviously never made it before Is that normal?
