I read everyday, but mostly just fluffy stuff. I've only read a few of the ones on your 5 star fiction list, so maybe I'll try some of them. Thanks!

Wow, I admire you dedication to doing this. I was determined to keep a Goodreads list this year as I read a lot and sometimes find books just meld into each other - I only got a few months in and didn't keep it up. You have inspired me

Thanks for sharing, I'm going to add a few to my to read list This has been my worst reading year for some reason, I didn't start many books that I felt the need to finish. My original reading goal on Goodreads was 100, then it went down to 40 and then finally 25!! I did manage to reach that goal and go over it slightly but for the first time ever reading had been a struggle.

Impressive! And since you and I are fans of similar type books, I'm looking through your lists carefully for books I haven't read yet.

lol - I go right to the "bad book" list. And lo, there on the list is "The Astronaut's Wives Club". Wasn't that the most stupid thing ever? Wow.

Wow...that's quite a list! And such a great idea, too. I recently checked a book out at the library by one of my fave authors---I was soo excited to dive in, then........ ...ugh, realized I read it a couple years ago. I'll refer to your list to check some of these out; it's great to get recommendations! Just another reason I'm so thankful to have libraries! There have been times I've checked out 5 or so, and 2 or 3 of them aren't any good; so I can't imagine wasting money buying them!

Thanks for sharing! I've read several of your five star picks and agree they were great!
Did you see that "Big Little Lies" is being made into a movie by HBO (I think).

It's been years since I read The Ladies of Missalonghi, but I don't remember not liking it. I wonder why it made your list? I'd like a more scathing review, please.

I am impressed!! Those are excellent lists and I've saved them for future reference when I'm looking for my next book. I've read several from each of your lists and look forward to checking out several more you liked. Maybe this year I will start a list too.

Book lists are some of my favorite things ever. I agree with many of your 4-5 star books. I do have to disagree with giving Olive Kitteridge a low mark. That may have been one of my favorite books the year that I read it. Definitely not plot driven yet insightful and well written, in my opinion. But that's the great thing about books. There is something for every person at every point in their life. Thanks for posting your lists!

Wow, what a dedicated reader you are. I wish I had done something like you have. I read a lot but can't remember the stories just a few months later. I am going to try and make notes. Starting in 2017. Thanks!!!

I had an enormous drop-off, and although I DID need glasses, and I DID spend too much time online, there was also an element of really struggling to find books I wanted to finish. I'm really hoping for a better year next year!

A terrific true story written like chick-lit. No endnotes, no bibliography. I think what really rankles is that this author is insanely successful even though she is a terrible writer. I guess there's plenty of that going around, though.

It's been a long time, but the way I remember it is that I read it, thought it was "meh," and then for some reason I checked the Amazon reviews of it. The very first review mentioned that this book was a total rip-off of an old novel by L. M. Montgomery (the author of the Anne of Green Gables books) called The Blue Castle. So I found The Blue Castle and read that, and I was just appalled at how blatantly Colleen McCullough had plagiarized it! Plus Montgomery's book was much better. I'd love to know what possessed McCullough to just flat-out copy another person's book.

Ha! I'm not at all sure why the habit stuck this time around. I had tried it before, too. I think being able to do it online helped. And then you really do just get into the habit after a wile, that when you finish a book and close the covers, you go straight to Goodreads.

It could very well be that if I read Olive Kitteridge today, I'd like it. I do generally like character-driven fiction, but Olive really bugged me! If I had the time, it would be fun to go back and read some of the books I loved and hated, and see what I think today, but my "to read" list is far too long to do that!
