I have followed the many Fiestaware threads here for years, but I just wasn't ready to invest the $$, as much as I loved all the pretty colors. And a few years ago, I received a set of Corelle dishesthat I've really come to love, because they are so lightweight. And it's just DH and I, so I guess I've never really been able to justify building up a Fiestaware collection...UNTIL my cousin decided to part with some of her random pieces a couple months ago. She sent me a vegetable bowl, 2 mini bowls, and 2 cups/saucers all in the poppy color. And as you can guess, I now want more!!
I don't want to go drop a huge chunk of money all at once, so I'm just going to watch for sales and slowly build build my collection. So far I have 2 of the 4-piece settings - one red, one ivory. My plan was always to have ALL the colors, but now I'm wondering if I will regret it.
Share with me your colors, and if you were to start over, would you choose the same colors?

I went to a tent sale 2 years ago and became overwhelmed quickly! I originally wanted to collect all the colors but I ended up changing to just the blues. I have peacock (retired), cobalt, lapis, and turquoise. I was able to return all the dishes that I had been slowly collecting and exchange them for other items in the blues. I just have a few pieces of marigold left that I bought online.

I have service for 12, two sets of cobalt, Scarlett, turquoise, tangerine, sunflower and lemongrass. Those were my favorites.
I collect serving pieces in those colors too.
At one point I think I would like to get a set of 8 in one solid color, in case I want to set my table all with just one color. But, I haven't been able to choose which color. :-)

Why not start with one more color and see what you think? Turquoise would be a nice addition to the colors you have, or Sunflower if you don't want to stray too far.
I have lots of colors that I've collected over the years. I don't do placesettings, but rather salad plates in one color, dinner plates in another, etc. Right now my table setting is Scarlet, Cobalt, Periwinkle and Evergreen (old colors) to go with some snowman plates I have.

I have cobalt, sunflower and one of the orange reds. I think my food looks best on the blue and the red plates.

I have all of the recent colors, except the sage green. I think I've got 15 dinner plates in 14 colors. Some of the newer colors, I've just picked up other pieces. I think I have 17 colors across all of my dishes.

I like the idea of the different shades. Like the blues or red and orange. I know the turqouise is super popular right now. I love the turqouise and cobalt. I just have a pot. I used to have some little bowls but a couple got broken in a move. I'd love to do a set of blues.

I have turquoise, scarlet, lemongrass, and tangerine. Then I went to the factory this past summer and added in shamrock. I love having the dish colors mixed. I would never want to do all one color. And yes, I would choose the same colors. They are different and go great together.

My plan was always to have ALL the colors, but now I'm wondering if I will regret it. it wasn't my plan but I currently have 19 or 20 (maybe more) of their colors and there is only DH and me in the house. the great thing about Fiesta is that all of their colors compliment each other. I have my place settings separated and stored side by side in two color groupings---reds/yellows/oranges and then the blue/greens/darks.

For the holidays, I got 2 bistro place settings each in claret, sage, and ivory. They are making wonderful holiday place settings without formal Christmas china.

I've been collecting Fiesta for over 20 years (yikes!). I have a wide variety of colors. I think I have 14 place settings. I'd have to count. I have some of the pastels from the early 90's that my Grandma gave me to start me off to some of the current stuff. I skipped colors that didn't appeal to me or that were too similar to past colors. I get serving pieces in whatever color floats my boat or I find on sale. JCPenney clearanced some pieces when they stopped carrying Fiesta, so I ended up with several pieces for under $10 total (butter dish, spoon rest and covered casserole dish). By not being stuck on one or several colors, I can grab up things like that. And, I love opening my cabinets. My kids have fun setting the table, as much as one can have fun setting the table. I wish I lived near enough to go to the tent sale. That would be amazing!

I forgot to add when I started collecting, I had only scarlet, lapis, cobalt, and turquoise. 2 of each.
But then I was ready to expand and am so happy to have my rainbow!
My mom began to collect when I moved out and it is just my mom and dad. She has 10 or so settings in all colors and all kinds of serving pieces.
If I was to choose when I first started, it would totally be to get the rainbow! Makes me so happy

I started with 2 place settings each of Scarlet and Lemongrass, with the intention of adding all the colors except the oranges. I am not an orange person, although I really like the way Poppy looks with the other colors. I started adding single place settings, but eventually realized that I didn't need more cups and saucers or mugs, so now I just buy the pieces I'll use, dinner plates, luncheon plates (slightly larger than the lunch plates in the place settings), and cereal bowls. I've started in on serving pieces now, and I'm sticking to my colors.
In addition to the Scarlet and Lemongrass, I have: Cobalt Lapis Turquoise Peacock Slate Cream Claret Flamingo Sunflower Shamrock Plum
I think that's it. I divide them by season, for the most part, but some colors go with multiple seasons. I have all of the currently available colors that I want, but I'd love to find Heather, Juniper, and Chocolate. A couple of place settings of white would be nice, I'm back and forth about the black. If money were no object, I'd buy more place settings of my current colors so I could set a table with only two or three colors at a time.
I have zero regrets, love all of my colors.

I just started my collection last year. I'm slowly building it due to lack of storage. I have peacock, lemongrass, cobalt & poppy. Next I want to add a yellow to the mix.

I have a rainbow of colors, no rhyme or reason. Some were 4- or 5-piece place settings and then some were individually purchased plates, bowls, etc. I love opening my white kitchen cabinets and having a rainbow of colors!

I started collecting Fiestaware about 5 years ago, thanks to the Peas I have either 4 or 5 piece place settings of all the recent colors, with the exception of Slate, Sage and Claret. I don't have room for any more sets, so I buy a serving ware piece in the new colors if I like it. I am not a fan of claret, so I haven't bought anything new. I decided from here on out, I will just buy the jumbo bowls. I don't need any more place settings, and we don't use the mugs or tea cups. I did go to the tent sale last summer and picked up dinner plates in black, slate and sage for $1 each.

Know that many colors are eventually retired. Some colors have intentionally short lives; some don't sell well; some have been around since 1986. The color family themes often reflect decorating trends (so 1980s pastels, then jewels, then brights, now "muddies"), and don't always play nice with each other. Long way of saying be prepared for the selection - and tone focus - to change. Me? I cried uncle after about 20 colors, sold 17 of them, and kept three. I was ready for a less chaotic cupboard, but I think even the people who like several colors can be happy with 4-8 colors. I'm happy with three and usually only use two colors together. Different strokes. These resources might help you: Colorama: a feature where you can play with the current colors
Blog: The Little Round Table The blog creator passed away, but there are years of great pictures of how she mixed Fiesta colors. (Be careful; she also had the vintage Fiesta colors, but usually identified them.) And this photo is just for fun: ETA: Fixed Colorama link

I have 12 place settings -- 4 each of peacock (now retired), cobalt, and scarlet.
I have various servings bowls and platters, also in those three colors.

Is there a reasonably priced place to buy discontinued colors? eBay and Etsy and Craigslist. There used to be a dedicated site - forget the name - but it closed down. Surprisingly, I actually did well on Replacements once. My best deals have been Craigslist (which is also where I sold about 70 pieces in two days when I color-purged), although some sellers don't want to break up sets. Do separate searches for "fiestaware" and "fiesta." Be prepared for lots of Ford Fiestas. Be patient on eBay and Etsy. There are a zillion listings and a huge variance in price...and some prices are truly ridiculous. Also, search for incorrect listings. One of my colors is Seamist, but is often listed as "sea foam" or "mint." I lucked out once with a misspelling of Sapphire. (Lilac, Sapphire, and Chartreuse are the "rare" colors and command high prices.) Also, on eBay lots of people list Post 86 Fiesta in the Vintage Fiesta section...believing that 1986 is "vintage," even though vintage Fiesta is 1936-1974. Yes, I have much arcane knowledge.

I have all colors, it's like a rainbow in my dishwasher! I keep them in a glass medicine cabinet that I got at Ikea. I really love the multiple colors. I don't regret it.

I have 2 each of tangerine, sunflower, poppy, lemongrass, plum and turquoise. DD keeps getting me serving pieces in different colors - peacock, shamrock and lapis, but I don't plan to get those colors. I almost got paprika and sage for Thanksgiving colors but decided not to because then I would need those colors in serving pieces too. I always get them only on sale. Macy's, Kohl's, Belk and Penney's have great prices, use coupons and Ebates for bigger savings. Macy's, I've found, wraps them the best when shipping. I just added the luncheon plates and am glad that I did (except I can no longer get plum.) I've been collecting for a year.
I love the rainbow of colors and they make me happy. Can't wait to see what the new color(s) will be.
Happy collecting.
(For Christmas, I still love my Pfaltzgraff Winterberry.)

Thanks! www.fiestafactorydirect.com/p-3134-large-canister-sage-573.aspxI buy most of my items direct from Homer Laughlin who makes Fiestaware. They package WAY better than Kohls who is known for broken items upon arrival and even Macys.
