I requested tickets when I had hope that I could take my daughter to see the inauguration of the first woman president. I was notified that I "won" tickets. Would you go?
I'd like to think this is a once in a lifetime chance at the pomp of an inauguration. I was prepared to deal with all the nonsense of going (traffic, weather, etc) so that's not all that big of a concern. I just don't want it to seem like any sort of endorsement for the sexist ass wipe or any of his racist supporters. I am not part of the 53% of white women who voted for him and I'd HATE for the shame of being a "Trump supporter" be cast my way. But, history is history and the likelihood that I'll still be living this close in 4 years is unlikely.

I'd go with a big Russian flag and "MAGA" on it in Russian.

No. I rarely fight DC traffic and January cold under normal circumstances; I sure as hell wouldn't do it for this event for someone I cannot tolerate... history or not.

Yes, I would go, unless I felt that strongly against a candidate. In that case, no I would choose to give up the tickets & make other plans.

With the way you feel I wouldn't go.
Why put yourself through that if you are going to be miserable.

Yes, I would go. I applied for tickets but won't know until the beginning of Jan. I'm not a huge fan of Trump but I really would like to see an inauguration someday. I figured this is my best shot at it. LOL. I've always wanted to visit DC too so that's half of it.

While it might be history...it's not good history.
This is not a popular winner and it's a president who is divisive and stirs things up...for that reason alone I wouldn't put myself or any children into a crowd that has the potential to turn ugly and get dangerous.
Apart from the personal safety issue, I wouldn't go and witness anything (no matter how historical) that in any way celebrates/highlights/congratulates that vile man. Finally imagine being in a crowd of people who all admire and support Trump and who are all congratulating and backslapping each other on the win...and you disagree with everything they say, that doesn't sounds like a particularly pleasant experience either. If you didn't vote for him and you don't agree with his politics and you dislike him on a personal level...then nothing about seeing him be inaugurated sounds like it would be a fun or interesting thing to attend.

I would go out of respect for the office. Same as the parade. I didn't support either Clinton or Trump but I will watch it. I didn't support Obama (well I couldn't vote then anyhow) but I watched his inauguration and his speech. Fact is he won. He was not the first president who lost the popular vote but won the electoral either. Democracy is one of the backbones of the country. Whether or not you can stomach the winner he did win. Inaugurations are part of history. I just think the office of POTUS in and of itself deserves respect. Then there is the pure factor of just wanting to see in person what happens that day. What are the people like? What will the atmosphere be like. It would be interesting to be there in person then to watch how the media spins the event KWIM?

Absolutely not, no matter who won. After living inside the beltway for 6 years, and watching all the people come in for inauguration, and dealing with the crowds and traffic, etc, no way would I purposefully head into all of that. I'm good with watching inaugurations from my house.
If I were inclined to want to go see an inauguration in person, I would not be going to this one. I don't like Donald Trump, and I don't care to watch him get sworn in.

No. But not for the reason that I am not a fan of President Elect Trump. (I'm not.) But because it is cold. For me to go, not only would I have to deal with the expense of going, but also the expense of having to buy an entire cold weather wardrobe in order to go. And by that I mean I get cold when it is below 70 (it is 70 right now and I am wearing a long sleeved tee with a long sleeved henley over it, long fuzzy pants, fuzzy slippers and I am just about right.) I do not own the kind of clothes (or shoes) that would keep me warm. And, silly thing? I would certainly have to pee and I am too old to navigate all that cold weather gear and pee at the same time. I am a full on wimp and own it. And can laugh at myself because I know it is stupid.

No. Hitler made history too and I would not have wanted to witness that either.
I would turn down an all expense paid, 5 star hotel, first class air trip if it meant I must attend that inauguration!!

Absolutely not. A foreign power directly influenced thks election in order to get a candidate who is favorable to them in office. It was obvious during the entire election cycle, but people voted for him anyway. I wouldn't want to be a part of that sham.
