I'm a newbie to the stamping world. Where is the best place to purchase stamps, inks, dies at the best price? I'm overwhelmed. I don't have any scrapbook shops left in my city....well, besides HL, Michael's and Joann's which have very little in the way of stamps/dies. I'm looking to purchase online if at all possible. Point me in the right direction, please.

Perhaps you would be interested in working with a consultant from like Close to My Heart or Stampin Up. I personally do not stamp because I can't get the hang of it, but if I was starting out I would work with someone who knows and can teach me. Maybe if you are interested in that you could look at their websites and find a consultant in your area. Then when you get the hang of it you can branch out to online purchases.

momstime, do you want stamps for scrapbooking or cardmaking? I can give you some suggestions for both, but especially cardmaking.

Welcome to the world of stamping. While I exclusively incorporate stamping into traditional scrapbooking (not a card-marker, mixed-media artist, etc), IMHO the talented stampers on the Stamping/Cardmaking sub-message-board here are a kind & knowledgable group. You may consider checking it out, but I warn you it's definitely a rabbit hole that you'll fall in & emerge inspired (& likely with a lighter wallet) My favorite stamps are from Catslife Press (no affiliation, except as a repeat customer) due to their deep-etched rubber, smooth wood mount (note unmounted also available at half price), creative/original designs/sayings, quick shipping (& I live on the opposite coast), & unmatched customer service. HTH, & happy holidays!

I'm fairly new to stamping and die cutting, but I'm up to speed after taking some online classes and following some papercrafters on YouTube. I find that Simon Says Stamp and Stampers Anonymous have a great selection. I especially like anything Tim Holtz, and My Favorite Things. Kat Scrappiness and A Cherry on Top have some nice lines that are inexpensive. Jennifer McGuire just did a series of YouTube videos of her favorites, so you might check that out for some inspiration and links to products.

momstime , do you want stamps for scrapbooking or cardmaking? I can give you some suggestions for both, but especially cardmaking. Cardmaking. I gave up my scrapbooking dreams years ago. A very kind refupea RAK-ed me some stamps, and I've been hooked ever since. I have made a few cards that turned out not half bad. I am now on the hunt for a diecut machine and some matching stamps and dies. They are all just so expensive, I want to get the best deal. I can tell this is going to be a very expensive hobby.

I'm a long time stamper, and it can be a spendy hobby. But there are places to get discounts on some items. Bigger items, well, they are an investment. First off, if you are on Facebook, there is a very kind group called Stamp Junkies. They are helpful, have lots of giveaways and they are generous and friendly group. They are not trying to sell anything and they have lots of experienced people worldwide on there. There are also quite a few Facebook groups where you can get used stamps for a song, as I say. I belong to several, craft destash, stress free craft sale are just two great ones. I know there are more. Online retail: Some really good ones have been mentioned. I also shop for supplies on Amazon.com - I think they usually have the best price on many items. www.hallmarkscrapbooking.com - super fast shipping, most things are discounted, reasonable shipping prices. butterflyreflectionsink.3dcartstores.com - Great selection, has reasonable shipping costs and free shipping at a certain amount. Her items are discounted slightly, and she also has a points/rewards program that is generous. www.tupelodesignsllc.com/ - shipping is free (no minimum) and its usually overnight fedex. They offer a rewards program also. www.simonsaysstamp.com - they have everything. There is usually a 10% code each month on Tim Holtz's blog, and they also frequently have $5 off, which makes shipping $2 www.ellenhutson.com - they also have everything. They ship super fast, and they send coupon codes to you in their newsletter, have frequent sales, and offer frequent buyer discounts (ie: if you buy something this month, they will send you a coupon for use next month) Hope this helps!

I am now on the hunt for a diecut machine and some matching stamps and dies. They are all just so expensive, I want to get the best deal. I can tell this is going to be a very expensive hobby. For a die cut machine, if you can afford it, go for a Big Shot/Big Kick over a Cricut. It's a workhorse of a machine. I'm still using my original one and it still performs like new. I've noticed that M and HL are carrying more stamp and die sets. With a coupon, they are a pretty good deal. I have also found some good deals on Amazon on stamp and dies bundled together so I always look there before purchasing. I can also highly recommend Ellen Hutson and Simon Says Stamp. You might also take a look at www.franticstamper.com and www.oozak.com. For stamp brands with matching dies, there are many good companies to choose from. It depends on your style and the type of cards you want to make. My favorites are My Favorite Things, Hero Arts, Avery Elle, WPlus9, Reverse Confetti, Altenew, Lawn Fawn, Taylored Expressions, Simon Says Stamp, Papertrey Ink and Concord and 9th. Good luck. And when you've made so many cards you don't know what to do with them, let me know. I can point you in the way of some good charities who would love to receive your handmade creations.

There are rubber stamp and scrapbook expos and conventions in a lot of cities and both have stamps. If you're near one take the opportunity to check it out. A lot of items are discounted and the stamp conventions have a good selection.
