Add to it that he just told all of the people in charge of maintaining our nuclear arsenal that they need to be out by January 20. That right there is one of the scariest things I've read so far. Who is he going to replace them with? Oh wait, maybe his friend Vlad knows someone who needs a job...

Passing this on: The federal week in review: 1. Trump fires all Ambassadors and Special Envoys, ordering them out by inauguration day. 2. House brings back the Holman rule allowing them to reduce an individual civil service, SES positions, or political appointee's salary to $1, effectively firing them by amendment to any piece of legislation. We now know why they wanted names and positions of people in Energy and State. 3. Senate schedules 6 simultaneous hearings on cabinet nominees and triple-books those hearings with Trump's first press conference in months and an ACA budget vote, effectively preventing any concentrated coverage or protest. 4. House GOP expressly forbids the Congressional Budget Office from reporting or tracking ANY costs related to the repeal of the ACA.
5. Trump continues to throw the intelligence community under the bus to protect Putin, despite the growing mountain of evidence that the Russians deliberately interfered in our election. 6. Trump breaks a central campaign promise to make Mexico pay for the wall by asking Congress (in other words, us, the taxpayers) to pay for it. 7. Trump threatens Toyota over a new plant that was never coming to the US nor will take jobs out of the US. 8. House passes the REINS act, giving them veto power over any rules enacted by any federal agency or department--for example, FDA or EPA bans a drug or pesticide, Congress can overrule based on lobbyists not science. Don't like that endangered species designation, Congress kills it. We - progressive, liberal, libertarian and conservative - need to all wake up to what is actually happening to our beloved country. (From a friends fb ) it's all scary when laid out so clearly like this, but the parts I bolded I hadn't really heard about before in so many words, and they're ESPECIALLY concerning / scary... before, I just figured the next 4 years would be pretty much business as usual (in that nothing much would actually get DONE, like before) but now-- wow.

Add to it that he just told all of the people in charge of maintaining our nuclear arsenal that they need to be out by January 20. If anyone is still on the fence, these are not the actions of a leader who has America's safety or best interests at heart. These are the actions of a person who wants complete control over everything and wants to obliterate any traces of the person who was president before him. I can't believe *anybody* thinks this is a good idea.

You ever get the feeling that he's "parting the US out" stripping it down to sell its parts off to the highest bidder?

Fire all the ones who know anything about the nukes and replace them with friends of Trump and they won't even get any "on the job" training. Does he think just anybody can walk into that job?

what's the approval / appointment process like for foreign ambassadors? Since all the Obama administration ones have to be out by Jan. 20th, right?? I think I heard or read that. I would NOT want to be doing any foreign travel for that period of time... are those embassies are just going to be empty during that time, or what??

Why would he expect anyone else be any different. ( I need a sarcasm button)

It probably hasn't entered his tiny little mind that with such short notice to get out of the job many of these people and their families, for one reason or another, won't be able to pack up and go in such a short time. If they stay in the country they are at they will need visa's otherwise they will be there illegally. Most diplomatic staff don't need one as they have immunity but once they are not under the jurisdiction of the embassy they're on their own and no different to any foreign person. It's going to hit families pretty badly because it's more than likely their children are at school. He's quite happy to disrupt their schooling but not his own son's!

Some of the things he's doing (getting rid of the nuclear people and ambassadors) just seem so amazingly petty - in addition to being dangerous.
These people work with nukes. It's not like there are a ton of unemployed nuclear scientists running around. He's going to replace them with whoever kissed his ring or donated to the campaign. What could possibly go wrong?
Here's something nice and scary to think about:
In about 11 days, there are going to be quite a few unemployed people who know all about our nuclear weapons and capabilities. These people probably feel quite patriotic and love their country - but perhaps there will be some who aren't so motivated by love of country. People who maybe have some bills they'd like to pay, families they need to support. People who may not feel quite so bad about sharing those secrets for the right price. After all, they were doing a good job - but they got fired because the new guy wanted to erase all traces of his predecessor, rather than considering that these people had special skills and knowledge and were kind of important to the security of the nuclear weapons stock.
There is already talk of resignations among the intelligence services. Most of these people love their country very much, so much that they've been willing to work at a job they can't talk about with risks that won't get them more but a nice private funeral and an anonymous star on the wall should they end up making the ultimate sacrifice. It could be worth it, if the leaders of the country would be willing to listen to the information they gather and appreciate their work. But if the leader is going to be throwing shade and disregarding the intel for political reasons? Now, I doubt that these people would turn traitor very easily. BUT...up until now, they have worked for a government that has protected not only them, but their families. These people have been able to work in the field knowing that someone back home was watching out for their loved ones. Now, that is going away. No protection for those loved ones. How long before a suspected former agent gets compromised? I'm sure there are some people out there who would be very, very interested in what they have to say, don't you think?
Some tweets are funny. Some aren't. And some actions have very bad consequences that you simply can't spin by telling us to "listen to what's in his heart, not the words that come out of his mouth." When a nuke goes missing because the people you appointed don't have a clue what they're doing, I'm sure that what he feels in his heart will be very comforting to the people who live in the place that nuke or dirty bomb happens to go off. We can all raise a cup of liberal tears to the city that was once _________ and is now glowing and toast ourselves because at least he didn't have emails.

The last line is the absolute truth. He has him pegged exactly. Trump can't stand being ignored. This would throw him over the edge. View AttachmentThat won't be a problem for me, but I can already see the writing on the wall. Headline: Only four people in the world tuned in and watched the Inauguration. Latest tweet. Good thing we didn't bet on his next tweet. So he attacks the media through his dumb wall. "Dishonest media says Mexico won't be paying for the wall if they pay a little later so the wall can be built more quickly. Media is fake!" I've read this like 10 times and it still doesn't make sense.

There are so many slamming Ms Streep on Twitter. Many are supporting her, but there are a lot more than I thought that are ripping her up. There is so much hate out there. And social media makes you see it up close. While I love technology, there are times when I wish Twitter and Facebook would just disappear. Let's bring back My Space when we were more interested in creating a cool place with fun, funky graphics and great music playing in the background. It sure did blow up fb in my dominantly rep area. It just blows my mind, these people are my friends, they're good people. but then I see what they say about this subject and it makes me .

I just read the tweet trump retweeted about Kellyanne's interview where she keeps harping that the Russian hack didn't influence the outcome of the election. I would love just love to be able to ask her and tiny hands just how do they know that? It's not what the intelligence report said as the intelligence folks didn't make any assessment of the impact the hacking had on the election. So how do they know? Of course I know that they believe if they keep saying this, his supporters will come to believe it as gospel. But what is tiny hands going to do about those who believe we really don't know and it could have played a part in him winning. Or not. It's that "?" that will continue to drive him nuts. Ummm....how did it NOT affect the outcome of the election? With the momentum she had going, then the (unfounded) report of new email scandal, then he wins by a shocking landslide. Yea that's not rocket science.

ahhh, but flute4peace, there's no PROOF of that. Therefore, it didn't happen. Kind of like a toddler covers their eyes because if they can't see YOU, then YOU can't see them.
HOW is it the 'dishonest media' if Mexico has repeatedly SAID 'we won't pay for your wall??' Oh, wait... the 'dishonest' media is probably lying about THAT, too, right?? I'm sure the Mexican government has said they're HAPPY to pay billions of dollars for something like that, and we just don't KNOW about it- right??
would these people be happy if someone did the whole 'I'd gladly pay you Tuesday if you buy this cheeseburger for me today' line to THEM?? And would they actually BELIEVE that person?? Are that many people REALLY so blinded by his cult of personality / celebrity that they can't see the idiocy of what he's actually SAYING and DOING??

The more you lie, the easier it is to fool yourself and start believing the lies. I agree. I think she's deep into the koolaid at this point. If not, she deserves an Academy Award. Oh wait...

So, this is a comment made on a friends Facebook post regarding Trump's response to Meryl Streep. What do we do with this type of thinking? There is absolutely no reasoning with someone like this, and no logical arguments will get them to look at things a different way. It is so frustrating! --"It is great for those people who have lots of money to make judgments. There is a reason the "common, deplorable, racist" people of America voted for him. A lot of us want jobs, patriotism, pride, independence and our country back. This country is a republic. We are not Islamic. We do not endorse forced religion and religious beliefs., barbarism and sustained killing attacks on white men, women and children. The actors have also lied. They said we will leave and denounce America if Trump is elected. Well, Trump is elected!! You people can leave now! You said you would. However they lied. None of them have left! Nice to know they are liars as well.. No new jobs were created in 8 years of Obama rule. In fact, 304,000 jobs were actually lost during the Obama administration. FEMALE camps and ISIS camps are what Democrats would have used to forward their Islamic Rule agenda!! Trump is an American! He believes in the flag, our national anthem, our veterans and looks with pride on our flag. Unlike the current sitting president who only looks with hatred and derision at our country!! She should have just accepted the award, said thank you and sat down..too many "windy speeches"., abound!! I see and read a lot of the same rhetoric from my Trump supporting friends and family. "We do not endorse forced religion and religious (?)"....unless it's Christianity, in which case, we will take away your right to choose and possibly be married if you are a gay person. Because most of these people wrongly believe that America is a Christian nation. These same people who want to make law based on the Bible don't realize that they sound just like the extremist Muslims they're so afraid of. Replace the words "Islam" with "Christianity," "God/Jesus" with "Allah/Mohammed", and "Bible" with "Quran", and their rhetoric sounds an awful lot like the rhetoric they so fear.... The same people who have spent the last 8 years criticizing President Obama non-stop now somehow think you should leave America if you dare speak against Trump. Talk about unAmerican behavior and attitudes! I made the mistake of engaging with someone on FB, and her response to me was "Trump is President! Go back to Mexico if you don't like it!"
She was enraged when I replied that I am proudly American (Native American on my mom's side, here long before the Pilgrims landed) and plan to spend the next 4 years exercising my first Amendment rights as loudly and peacefully as possible. She actually replied with, "you think it will be legal for people like you to run your mouth in a few years?" And then refused to engage when I asked her if she was actually calling for my free speech to be limited. (A very hypocritical viewpoint for a woman who drones on and on about the importance of the Second Amendment.) Intelligence has now been painted as elitism. Criticism of the government has become unpatriotic. The right condemns the left for trying to limit free speech (I hear a lot of crying about "whiny PC liberals"), but don't they do the same thing? Imply that Barack Obama is Muslim and it's okay, but criticize Trump legitimately, and you should get the fuck out because you don't love America as much as they do. It's really scary to see the way this presidency is affecting people I know. I legitimately fear for my country. On the plus side, it seems that my long-dormant activist is awake. I think we need to spend the next 4 years putting action behind our words. I choose to focus my energy toward working for Planned Parenthood and advocating for campaign finance reform.

Reading some comments on the FB post of Michelle's final speech (which was amazing), and some guy posts:
"Good riddance, can't wait to get some real CLASS AND DIGNITY in the White House from the new FLOTUS."
Had to shake my head a few times and wonder who he was speaking of. Ivanka? Ok..maybe...but Melania? Bhahahaha
