After 3+ years, he proposed and I said, "of course!" He got down on one knee on a beautiful date night a few days before Christmas. We have told all of our family and most of friends know, too. I'm so excited and cannot wait to marry this man. Now what? I'm 45 and engaged and have no idea where to start. We really only want a very small wedding with just our immediate family and maybe a few close friends. We want a killer honeymoon and maybe have a party a few weeks or so later. Any ideas or tips for a second wedding? Where do I start? We do go to a church but it is in a high school auditorium so not ideal for a ceremony. Thinking of possibly doing it in my parent's backyard but they don't really have a picturesque site - mostly just trees. She has a beautiful pond and landscaping but it isn't what I'd consider wedding-like. We could have a pergola or other archway built and rent a tent or something if we needed it. anyway....here's the ring!

WOW!!!! Congrats!
The ring is gorgeous!
Look at some all-in-one venues, like a hotel or (depending on where you live) a vineyard, where you can have the ceremony and the reception without having people have to get in their cars and drive around.

some protestant churches rent their space for weddings.. if you want to try a different church in town... or a park structure...

Congratulations! I would start with trying to figure out what type of ceremony you want and go from there. Do you want only close family, just the two of you or a big wedding?

Wow! Congrats!
And as far as a site for your wedding - we got married at the top of a Historic Hotel in Santa Fe (not your 'normal' wedding location). Think outside of the box! Is there a museum or a flower garden that you love?

Congratulations!! My second-time-around marriage has been a dream, and I hope yours will be, too. Take the time to think about doing it exactly the way you both want -- you deserve it!!

M There is a wedding Chapel on 431. The right hand side right as you head to Hampton Cove. It is just before you get to Dug Hill road. The owners live in my neighborhood. It's called appropriately, The Wedding Chapel on the Mountain. We have also been to 2 weddings at AM Booths Lumber Yard.

CONGRATULATIONS! You sound like you are quite flexible in what you will be happy with. I'd use that and do something lower key and unexpected that fits the two of you in your lives as they are today. If you both enjoy your church, but don't like the facilities, then have church people involved somehow, even if it's just to attend. Like the parents' yard, but it doesn't seem quite right? Either transform it with tents, etc (which can really do an amazing job) or maybe include some of their garden wherever you decide to have it. Like.... maybe there are flowers from their yard you could use. Take bits and pieces of your lives and mix them all together and you will have a very happy outcome.

Congratulations! Beautiful ring, too!
My sister got married for the first time when she was around 45yo. She got married at my parents' church because it was nearish the groom's family, my parents, and my other sister. It was a pretty simple wedding, mid-afternoon, with light desserts for the reception. They went to Scotland for their honeymoon!
