After chatting about the Willow Tree Nativity, I was wondering what your favorite piece is. I have collected several pieces over the years, and Christmas 2015 I received my favorite piece. It's called "By My Side," and it reminds me of my girls. One of them even wears a ponytail every single day so the girl holding her hair back is just perfect! Anyway, here it is. Click the image to enlarge it. So, what's your favorite piece? Maybe I will find a new one I need to add to my Pinterest wishlist.

When my father was diagnosed with lung cancer years ago, my best friend gave me Angel of Hope and Angel of of Light. It was very meaningful to me.

It's not a piece that I have, but a friend has it and it's only my favorite because of the story attached to it. It's one of a mother holding her child. I need to get one like it.
This friends daughter was very sick when she was much younger. In the hospital for a month, chest tube, and at one point her heart stopped. When she was better and back home she was going through her mother's willow Tree fugures and naming them using her own names. She came to the mother and child one and said 'and this is my Jesus holding me when I was sick'. Friend is kind of stunned and asks her to repeat what she said. Again she said "This is my Jesus holding me when I was sick. He told me I had to come back so you wouldn't be sad, Mommy".

I don't know the name of the piece, but it is an angel holding a cat in her arms. After our first cat died, the vet sent an angel to us. We put the angel next to the box of his ashes. When our second cat died, the vet sent another of the same angel. Again, watching over her ashes. When our 3rd cat died, "our" vet had moved away and left the practice. No angel sent.
One day DH and I were taking a walk along the main street of our little town. The local jewelry store was advertising a Willow Tree closeout, with many pieces displayed in the window, including the angel holding the cat. I pointed it out to DH, but didn't suggest we buy it, because did we really need a 3rd identical angel?
The next day when I got home from work, DH gave me a box. Inside was the angel, so my most dear boy could have an angel of his own. Many many tears followed.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer my new sister-in-law (I had married into the family 6 months earlier), who had battled bc as well, gave me a beautiful card with a lovely letter and the Brave figure. For Christmas that year a dear friend sent me the same one. And a few months later another friend gave me a third Brave figure. All three are on my dresser and I love them all.

Well I certainly didn't think opening this thread was going to make me cry, but it has. What touching stories.
For some reason the one with the little boy standing holding the gold heart tugs on my heartstrings. I don't own it.

It has a place of honor on the tree every year. It's a beautiful piece.

My husband gave me the couple embracing before we got married - it was too large to be a wedding cake topper so it stood next to our wedding cake. When I was pregnant, he gave me the maternity one, then after the baby was born, he gave me the little family one. I need a new one to represent our family of 4! Guess he knows I like them

My first willow tree was one of mother holding a baby that my mil gave me for Christmas after my son was born. It was not my style and I thought it weird, but obviously it grew on me. I love that one.
My favorite is probably the Heart of Gold, a little boy holding a heart of gold, or the two brothers one for my two sons.

Each year my mom bought me a piece for the nativity until that was complete.
I love our family one, and my child has a parent child one. I've given many as gifts and love them.

This post is also making me weepy.......I have many, maybe 8 or so. My older favorites are "Quest" a young boy sitting on a pile of books, holding a book and reading. "Angel of Comfort" a young boy sitting and holding a browish grey dog. I actually have 2 of that one. My mom gave one to me (reminds us of my son and our dog , and I gave one to my son for the same reason. I think my most favorite is "Remembrance ". The girl young girl I worked with at the time my mother died, got her for me. We had been talking about random things at work one day and she may have mentioned that she got one from her mom. I told her about some that I had. That year for my birthday, she got me Remembrance. It meant a lot coming from her..... These are all such nice stories. And I also have the boy standing with gold heart, from my husband.

Also, since you guys seem like such great resources on the Willow figurines. My dd turns 21 this Feb, what would be a good figure for that?!

This year my father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. For Christmas this year my mother gave me the figure of the girl holding forget-me-nots. I will treasure that Willow tree figure forever.

This is my favorite. It is a mom and 2 sons and the age difference is about the same as my boys. I adore it. My mother gave me the one called Mother and Daughter 3 times. The second time she gave it to me I exchanged it for something else. The third time I decided to keep it. This may sound weird, but when my grandfather died, my mother put a Willow Tree of Father and Daughter (the one refugeepea showed) in his casket. I thought I would do the same with the second Mother and Daughter one when the time comes some day.

I received Angel's Embrace after my sweet grandson was stillborn. It reminds me how safe he is in the arms of an angel.

You know, now that I think about it maybe a Willow Tree would be great for my daughter when she presents her honors research. It might be just the rememberance. I wonder which one I should get? Hmmm? Edited to say that I found which one I will give her. I searched the Willow Tree site. Don't go there if you don't want to cry. LOTS of stories people have posted about pieces meaningful to the. WOW! ChrysalisProtect and cherish; give wings to fly “A chrysalis is the protective covering in which a caterpillar develops into a butterfly. The title is a metaphor for the relationship between a mother and her teen-age daughter — a time of letting go, in support of emerging independence. A mother’s first response is to protect her child. But the greater gift is to provide the love and trust that helps her daughter find wings to fly. The emphasis on this piece is on the daughter. It’s her emerging, her transformation, her unfolding. The title is illustrative of this particular time of life.”

I like them but tend to not buy nick nack type of things for myself. Living in the military things like that tended to end up broken or missing. I"ve not gotten back in the decorating habit like that. But I do have one, Angel of Wishes, a friend gave me when I was going through my divorce. I do treasure her wishes for a new happy life at a time when I couldn't see any future at all, much less a happy one! Angel of wishes

I don't think I would have liked it with wings on it. I love it as it is. For me, it works but maybe a butterfly on her sleeve would have been a good addition.
