Do I need a lot of 'extra' supplies and equipment to make the cards that come in the kit? Or is it pretty easy to make the cards without lots of extra stuff/gadgets?
Thanks!!!

Watching the you tube lady who makes 10 cards a month from the kit - it looks like the extra supplies would be minimal. I iknow she uses metal circle dies a bunch on her cards, but I can't recall a bunch other stuff.
(Sorry I can't think of her name. But she is from Greece. And usually around the beginning of the month there is a thread reminding people to check out her videos).

i found her--she's amazing!!! are her cards totally different from the ones the kit has you make? Might be worth buying two kits LOLOL. OKay, i am going to get the feb kit when it's released, assuming i like it, and just play it by ear. i can always order amazon prime for the items she uses in the videos--but i don't hve the funds for a sizzix big shot right now (saving up!!)

Vicki P is fantastic, isn't she? If you watch a lot of her videos you'll see that she does sometimes use some extra supplies, but most of what she does can be done in a similar way with basic supplies - like cutting a basic shape with a paper cutter or craft knife instead of using a die, or by using a tool or supply that you already have. She will often say that she's trying out a new supply but you could also use something basic (like coloring with colored pencils or basic markers instead of Copics or distress crayons). She is good about reminding viewers that she does this for a living so she has a lot more supplies than someone would if they were just having fun. She also makes a point of making 10 different cards for each video, but you can make the same card or a slight variation more than once. You can probably get more than 10 cards out of one kit. The kits come with a little inspiration sheet that have another 4-6 (?) different designs you can make too, and of course you'll probably start getting your own ideas, especially if you watch a lot of Vicki's videos (and I would suggest you should - regardless of whether you have the kits or not). I make lots of cards but I don't have a die cutter. You can do more than you think with a few basic punches and a good craft knife (and lots of practice). You might also want to look at the 6x6" paper pad tutorial eponinekc.blogspot.com/2014/10/6x6-paper-pad-tutorial-revisited.html - it's different from what Vicki does with SSS kits, but it gave me lots of ways to make simple cards with very minimal supplies. (She does use a die cutter, but again, I get around that by using a craft knife, a few circle punches, and some pre-made elements like die cuts and stickers). I like to make both kinds of cards.

I just noticed that a sneak peek of next month's kit is now up on the SSS instgram feed - it's coffee & tea themed, really cute and it looks like there is a die included.
I have been getting the kits from the beginning and find them to be a good value - it is cheaper to subscribe. That being said there is no time commitment like some kit clubs and you can skip a kit if it doesn't appeal to you.
Most of the time there is enough cardstock included to make 10 cards, but not always. I think the amount of cards you can make has a lot to do with your style of cardmarking - more layers means you use more paper, etc.
There are also 5-8 different bloggers that usually make something with the kit each month. I would be happy to post their links, if you want to see what else folks beside Vickie are making for inspiration.

When you said coffee and tea I was all psyched, thinking it would be more "grownupish" w/lots of neutrals and geometrics. But seeing it in pinks and bows and cups w/faces puffy stickers, made it not for me. Oh well. Will try again next time.

I'm loving the February card kit. I'm not usually a Doodlebug critter fan, but I do like pink. It's for Valentines Day, after all. I think I can figure out a way to make something not too girly for DS.
To answer your original question, you can make everything with just the kit contents, but you will probably want a few more sheets of white card stock or card bases and envelopes. The main additional items would be tools and adhesives - diecutter, foam tape, maybe other dies to cut frames.

I haven't bought the SSS kits but have been hugely tempted a number of times. My impression is you don't really need many extra supplies at all. Will try and resist looking at the next Kit since I'm on a freeze this month!
