So let's say you belonged to "several" ribbon clubs over the years (4) and your membership to said ribbon clubs were for at least a year and up to 6 years for one. You do accumulate a lot of ribbon that way very quickly as most clubs were joined simultaneously (they just gradually closed up shop). You also did buy all the Prima ribbon you could get because someone was having a group buy on the old MB. So we'll say 5 dowels of 5 colours of beautiful Prima ribbon. Then there was American Crafts ribbon boxes and you had a few but not tons of those (packages of say 5 rolls of ribbon). You may have hit the fabric stores in town for lace, or other kinds of ribbon like embellishments a few times over the years for fun. You have a lot of ribbon on your hands.
What did you do with it all? I picked out all the Prima ribbon I could find and donated the rest of it. I looked at and thought to myself when would I ever use this much? Some was pretty, some beautiful, some neutral (neither like nor dislike) and some garbage. I didn't know what to do with this much. I couldn't open the ribbon drawer any longer as it was so full of ribbon (the drawer was a super size drawer here in a cabinet). I did keep about one package of ribbon that I liked because it was peach in colour. The rest is gone.
What did you do with all your ribbon? Are you going to keep it forever? Did you already donate it?

I still have all of mine mostly because I had a lot of my ribbon collection before it was a scrapbooking thing. I haven't done much sewing in a while but my whole collection fits into one smallish container and I'm ok with hanging onto it. I do still try to use ribbon occasionally on my pages.

I'm keeping mine. I donated a bunch a few years ago, and I kind of regret it now. I kept the really unique ribbons and got rid of a lot of basics. Don't ask me what I was thinking, because that was SO backwards! Every time I've needed a ribbon the last few months, I haven't had what I needed because I gave it away. Since my ribbons are stored out of the way in a space I wouldn't use otherwise, I'm just gonna let them ride.

I didn't go overboard during my ribbon days. I bought cheap ribbon at craft stores, usually for 99 cents a roll. And (years ago) when I decided I didn't really like using ribbon, I just gave it away. Same with fibers.
And since washi? Oh man, I never even think of ribbon.

Mine's all gone. Donated about a year ago. Haven't had a moment of regret.

I'm wrestling with this right now. I'm purging my supplies and am now down to ribbons and brads, charms, etc. I love it all but am trying to be realistic also. Ugh!!

I don't have a ton, so I've kept it. I rarely use it. I should do a purge of what I have.
I got sucked into the WRMK ribbon punch tool. I don't think I've ever used it.

I didn't belong to amy clubs, but I've bought tons of ribbon over time. I found I really didn't use it all that much. I decided to list it on Craig's list and sold it all. Haven't missed it one bit.

Never belonged to any ribbon clubs, but some of the SB clubs I belonged to included ribbon each month. I still have my ribbon, and while I don't use it often-- never did, really-- I do use it sometimes. I have it sorted by colour and that helps when I am searching for just the right piece. Now I am thinking I will have to pull out some ribbon-- and maybe one of those WRMK punches-- for your " uses your stash" challenges, Delta Dawn

I never belonged to any ribbon clubs either but I definitely have a ton. I no long use mine for scrapping or card-making but I use it for gift-wrapping sometimes. I just keep a hold of it because I like it basically, lol.

I have 6 plastic shoe boxes full. I'm keeping it. 2 are full of lace. I love lace! I use it on cards, occasionally on pages, and sometimes the kids need it for projects. I keep them on the top shelf of a bookcase so they are out of the way.

I love ribbon. I have a ribbon problem, I try not to look when I go to craft stores that sell it by the yard. Fortunately I have a storage system I like and works for me. I don't use it on every layout, but I do use it a lot. I rarely purge ribbon, only when it gets down to sniblets that are too hard to store. I hang mine from a towel rod next to my scrap table, makes it easy to see, easy to cut off what I want, and pretty to look at!

I like those ribbon curtains/banners and would probably make some of those up to use in my seasonal decor.

I have ribbon. Oh do I have ribbon! Do I use Ribbon? Not enough, at least not on my scrapbook pages. I do like it for cards though. I think that it can take a card from basic to really special with just a bow, or a strip across the card. I have hoarded some special ribbon that coordinates with some older Basic Grey...I want to come up with a way to use it more on my scrapbook pages. I think it adds a nice textural element. But without it being the "in" thing right now it's harder to come up with ideas.
I also have the dreaded fibers. Those collections of novelty yarns that we used to be able to get in coordinated sets. They were not cheap, and I want to use them. I just need to find an inoffensive way to use them...difficult because I no longer love them.

I too have what you all affectionately call "a ribbon problem" LOL. I don't have a wall big enough to put my ribbon on it. So what I did instead was put all the spools of it in 15"x15" by 3" or 6" deep clear plastic bins, and those bins take up an entire side of my island (8 CIS cubes per side). I have them divided up by color family. Even though I don't use it a lot for scrapbooking currently, I won't get rid of it because I use it for other projects too. I'm constantly digging through those bins looking for something.

I didn't join any ribbon clubs, but bought lots of ribbon. The other day my husband was wrapping up a custom pen he made for his sister and walked into my scraproom and asked, "Would you happen to have some ribbon, maybe red?" I just about fell out of my chair laughing and led him to my ribbon drawer. He had QUITE A FEW choices! LOL
I'm afraid I will keep it all forever.

I never had as much ribbon as you, Elannah, so organizing it isn't a big deal. I have the stuff on the spools filling 3 decorative shoeboxes that sit on a shelf. I also have 2 small plastic cases that are usually used to organize colored embroidery floss for all my smaller bits of ribbon. I used to buy an assorted bag of ribbons from JoAnn's every once in awhile. They used to throw all the lengths that were less than a yard into a remnant bag and sell the bundle for a marked down price. Not sure if they still do it. Lots of colors, but not always the prettiest or most useful. I've dipped into it twice this week though. I still get my use out of it.

I love ribbon for general craftiness but I don't have a problematic amount. Two large pickle jars full. I find even if I'm not doing a scrappy kind of gift, I generally make a tag for the gift and tie it on with 2-4 different ribbons.

I collected more FIBERS than I did ribbon. But, I am keeping both. Like foam stamps. I still WANT to use them!

I never belonged to any ribbon clubs but did buy a lot of Papertrey Ink ribbon in my early card making days. I mostly just use it for gift wrapping and other crafts now. Any random/old ribbons I'd just toss or donate.

Good thread to remind me to use my stash of ribbon.
I went to a QuickQuotes all day scrapping class last week and won a door prize- a big bag of random ribbons. We used ribbon and fabric/fiber on some of the pages, so I have been thinking more about using some of my stash (not to mention the new bag). I have plenty of space so I don't really purge, but I have been using my scrapping ribbon and fibers for gift wrapping and gift tags.

Yes- great reminder to purge and use my ribbon! I collected a lot. AC, BG, plus lots of rolls from M's, J's and HL.

I have gotten rid of the very specialized ones and ones that I had small amounts of. Mostly, I would buy bulk rolls...like 25-100 yards. I actually wrap gifts with real ribbon since I only buy ones that are a really good price. I also make wired bows for wreaths or other decor items. A couple days ago, I found a 50 yard roll of 1.5 inch wired gold ribbon for $.50 so that came home for sure. I now kind of try to stick to solids and neutrals. I found that a pants hanger for multiple pairs where you can disengage each rod makes a great took for storing rolls that aren't too big.

I still really love my ribbon, though I haven't bought any new in forever, except for some vintage trim I bought at a yard sale.
