It reminded me of Bed, Bath and Beyond (but they might not have sold bedding, towels...may have been more kitchen stuff). I want to say the name started with a C, but not sure. It was around when I got married in 1993 and it's where we registered, but I can't for the life of me think of the name of it, and google isn't helping.
Thanks!

What region of the country did you live in? That should help...some stores are only in certain areas.

Service Merchandise? Doesn't start with a "C" but for some reason they came to mind.

When I got married, we were poor as church mice and still in college. We bought our wedding bands at Service Merchandise because they were having a big sale. I think it cost $99 and we had to save for months for it. I still have it...mostly because it reminds me of a sweeter time.

Ha! I'll have to follow this thread. We registered at Target and some other place that I can't think of the name of. I'll have to see if it is the same place.

This is the one I was thinking of, too. And Ames and Bradlees, though they didn't start with a C.

We registered at Service Merchandise to the utter dismay of MIL, who could not conceive of registering anyplace but Hudson's. We had nothing, so if someone had a budget of fifty bucks, I wanted them to get me stuff we really needed, rather than a piece of China.
