We will be traveling to visit Eastern Michigan University for an accepted student college visit and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of anything fun to do while we are there. We live in PA, and lived in Troy, MI for a couple years (loved it!) but aren't familiar with Ypsilanti. We do plan to visit Univ. of Michigan when we are there because we were told it's pretty close.

Ann Arbor and Ypsi are on top of one another! I love A2, it's got such personality and vibrancy. Just go and walk around and enjoy every minute of it!

The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn is about a half hour away from Ypsilanti, according to Google. If you've never been there, it's worth the trip!

DS studied at UM and when he graduated I was so sad that I no longer had an excuse to visit A2. Cute town, lots of good restaurants. Pretty campus. I'd definitely spend some time there!

Ann Arbor is a good choice. Downtown Plymouth is about a half hour away, downtown Detroit is about 40. There is a huge restaurant resurgence going on in Detroit if you guys are foodies at all. Lots of interesting choices. There's an IKEA in Canton which is not terribly far if that interests you.

I would eat at Sidetrack Bar and Grill. It's a nice place not far from EMU itself.
I graduated from Eastern ages ago and grew up not far from Ann Arbor.

Thanks! I am excited to visit Univ. of Michigan too! My husband's cousin is the Michigan quarterback, so my daughter hopes to attend some of their home games.

Check out Depot Town in Ypsi. I went to grad school at EMU and it's where I met DH so I LOVE Ypsilanti!

Love Depot Town. There is a car show on Thursday nights in the summer. (My Dad usually shows up in a lime green '59 el Camino.). Our favorite place to eat is Maizey's -- I'm not sure I spelled that right. We try to visit Ypsilanti every summer.
